+Ares99999 Still fits with what Phantomshark said, Londo knows he is directly responsible, he wished for and caused the Narn defeat, however his conscience cannot stand for how the Narn were defeated. Londo knows the Centauri emperor is insane and is dragging his entire race down to his level. What Londo wanted was for the Centauri to show themselves superior, to regain the glory of the days of old, instead his wish made the Centauri a pariah to the other races, he did not get glory instead he just got covered in blood and filth.

@DEP7176 жыл бұрын
I agree, 100 percent. When Londo spoke, out of frustration, he was mad over the "Eye," and when you come to think of it, running down some space pirates didn't take a ton of firepower, mainly intelligence. I am guessing that Londo figured that Morden's friends had some firepower, but that they had mainly been able to do it because they knew where the bad guys were. There is a big difference between that an a large scale assault on a major power. To go back to the past, before the association developed between Londo & Morden, the Narns had been pushing the Centauri around. Maybe Londo was hoping for some kind of defensive stand to protect the border, or maybe something where the Narn could be persuaded to give up a sector politically. The difference between what Londo "wanted," and what Morden delivered was one of scale. Londo had no idea how powerful or dangerous the Shadows really were until he was basically welded to them as a partner. Londo might have wanted the Narn pushed back a sector or two, which is probably what the average Centauri Admiral would have given as a best case scenario if there was a war. The idea of being able to totally take out the Narn Empire and besiege their homeworld would probably not have been on Londo's radar, or said hypothetical Centauri Admiral's. At least, that was how I saw it at the time.

From the dulcet tone of his voice, his expertly timed darting eye movements, the way his lips move when he annunciates...everything is sublime and transcendent. The evolution of his character throughout the series from a broken man with only revenge left in his bones to his spiritual awakening in prison similar to Malcolm X and finally his unwilling rise to prophet. MonstrousEntity Well, Sheridan was generally a self-righteous asshole. So was Londo, true, but at least Londo eventually dropped much of his self-righteousness. Sheridan never did.

I'm going to be real. I'm going to tell the hard truth as best I believe and know it. This show at times was corny. It had cringeworthy moments and it had sometimes rather overdramatic performances that made me wince. And it was at times an AMAZING show that could stir emotions, feelings, thoughts and viewpoints. It had some of the most POWERFUL moments and it had dialogue that could be so MOVING and RELEVANT with EXCELLENT performances that outdo almost anything else. This scene was excellent. The actor portraying G'Kar (God rest his soul in Heaven) was truly AMAZING. As a man of Irish ethnicity with some family in Ireland, I can understand G'kar and his speech concerning the English and it's history. But I also remember G'kar can forgive. This was amazing. I am grateful for the memories. I am grateful it erred on the side of POWERFUL performances rather than underwhelming ones. I am grateful, for the show Babylon 5.

I swear.... this man. This paragon of a being... after everything, EVERYTHING! He endured. Be it the loss, pain, torture, exile, humiliation, failure... He still stood tall. After their 1st war for independence. He stood tall. After his attempted assassination. He stood tall.... After being beaten, broken, exiled and had to scrimp and scrape to hold what little unity he could. Enduring everything he did..... He still... stood... tall...

i love Adnreas Katsulas' protrayal of G'kar and believe it's one of the best characters and actor portrayals in TV history, however what not seen is the love for Peter Jurasik's portrayals of Londo. the part where he cuts Sheridan off with that "NOW" was perfect. timing, inflection and emotion, it gives me goose bumps every time i see it.....

Gkar was my favorite character on that show. Partially thanks to the amazing acting of Andreas Katsulas. And Londo knew Gkar spoke truth before leaving the council chamber. The interaction between those two was the best subplot of the whole series.

When I got to this part in the series, I totally wanted to go buy a ship and start supplying weapons to the Narn and shuttling people off the world and ambushing Centauri patrol craft and just be the Jim Raynor to his Tassadar SO bad. Also, would have loved to have seen King Arthur make a return during the Centauri occupation. Would've been cool to have him show up randomly leading a band of freedom fighters.

Something of interest in the council scene- Kosh's presence. He really doesn't need to be at this (what any other Vorlon would consider) petty argument and waste his time, yet he is. And not only is he there, he seems to feel for G'kar- he actually turns to look at G'kar after Londo demands his removal, then follows him out with his head.

A lot of attention on the speech, but I love the interaction between Sheridan and G'Kar that you graciously included even more. Londo's betrayal shook G'Kar to the core. He had judged Londo to be a person worthy of trust, despite his people being the sworn enemy of his own, and look what happened. He was proven wrong. There's a big part of him that cautions him against trusting anyone ever again based on his own judgment of people - specifically, non-Narns. Trust is a lie, hope is a lie, cooperation is a lie. In shaking hands with Sheridan, he makes a conscious decision to choose otherwise - he chooses to believe, despite the evidence, that his ability to discern whether a person is trustworthy or not is not at fault with Sheridan. He could just as easily not have shaken that hand; what he said would have served as an explanation that Sheridan would have accepted. "Fair enough, anyone would have trust issues after something like that." It could have been a much slower process. But it didn't take G'Kar even twenty-four hours to pick himself off the mat. What a guy. Much later it turns out he was right about Londo, too. Londo *was* sympathetic, but he felt he had no other choice but to do his duty - whether out of loyalty or out of self-preservation. Something G'Kar understands, since asking for sanctuary was also something he did purely to fulfill his duty to the Narn people. Eventually all the pieces fall into place for G'Kar as to what person Londo is at his core, which is why he was ultimately able to forgive him.
@thomasbom4362 жыл бұрын
Londo should not have been forgiven, there are crimes that are unforgivable, submitting a people to slavery is one of them.

It's amazing to think that in the multi-year arc of this show , Londo and G'Kar went from being total rivals to friends ...... possibly their last scene together with Londo saying the position of Emperor changes you ... and G'Kar saying even if his people can never forgive his people, that he can forgive Londo .... wow, this show was a roller-coaster of so many things... emotions, political understanding, being introduced to the idea of fake news propaganda, etc ... I feel this show opened my eyes to how things really work in the world of political power , media control and many other things

One of the things I love about this scene is the fact we know Londo is conflicted, we know the war has gone far beyond anything he wanted, but he can't let others see that. Knowing that under the harsh words and demanding tone is a man who's trapped in a situation where he sees no escape adds a whole other level to the performance.
