The USA news is pretty distressing with mass shootings, inflation, volatile markets, and the price of gas. Retired life in Ajijic, Mexico on Lake Chapala. RV Life. Projects in the mountains of central Mexico, our USA travels in a 40' Monaco motor home, or whatever else is on my mind today. :)

"Instead of focusing on the 2nd Amendment, focus on the 2nd grade." As a teacher who practiced active shooter drills in class and NEVER felt safe, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that statement. Something has to change. The children and teachers of the US deserve better protection and security at school. As for hiring a service to help with immigration procedures, I highly recommend it. I paid a relocation service to assist me with my 4 year residence card. It was worth the money I paid as they expedited the process and everything was completed without stress. Besides, they consider me a client so I can call on them again if necessary.

Florida has taken the school shootings seriously and has controlled entrances and guards. Sad it came to that but at least they took action that might actually stop a shooting.

About tinacos, I forgot to tell you that they were made of asbestos. Virtually all home tinacos on the roofs of Mexico City homes were made of asbestos. People drank and cooked with water stored in asbestos containers and apparently no one got sick. They were in use for decades, and I don't know if any person died in Mexico City of mesothelioma because of them. Also, asbestos companies (there were many) used to sell cute doghouses made of asbestos in 1 molded piece, except for the roof. I don't know if there are reports of dogs dying from mesothelioma in the 1900s and before. I think that material was replaced with something else.

Another big reason to move away from the USA is the cost of health care. My wife and are I are almost 60, and we pay $300 per month for medical insurance for the two of us in Ecuador. A person could live here without insurance and not live in fear of a financial catastrophe in the event of hospitalization. I went to the emergency room at one of the best hospitals in Quito and the bill was less than $100 including lab tests.

In reference to what you stated about why people are moving to Mexico , yes it's obvious specially if you're retiring which is our case hubby will be 62 soon, our properties in Dallas tax wise is just crazy 2 yrs ago I was paying 2500, during pandemic it went up twice up to almost 5k, so we want to travel and have some fun, so we will probably sell or rent our 2 story home and that will help us alot, I did live in Coahuila as a teen so it's not a big deal for me, just you get accustomed to your own place, your home , and now we begin another chapter,

My friend, I loved your explanation and especially your gas story. VIVA MEXICO!!!!!! In spite of the fact Mexico has so much natural beauty, food, etc, it's greatest treasure are its beatiful people. No wonder it is rated the second happiest country in the world. It appears to have rubbed off on you. Wish I could say the same about the states but I can't. Example; I was driving in front of a Safeway grocery store a couple days ago and stopped for a lady that was crossing in front of my car. Instead of a smile from her I received a look of scorn. HOW DARE ME SHOW SOME COURTESY AND KINDNESS TOWARDS HER.......I will be moving to Chapala area in two years and I can't wait. My country of birth is broken .....

Long time subscriber. Love your content as I dream of retiring to Mexico some day. Just wanted to point out that despite numerous examples of anecdotal evidence, and the propensity for certain media outlets to run with it, the Cal-exodus is simply a myth. I'm a CA native and 20+ year property owner and save for a few years during the Great Recession my property has continuously increased in value to this day, as has the majority of real estate in our state. Although that is only one data point, there are plenty of documented data/facts found on the internet that solidly dispell this myth. A simple Googling of the phrase "myth of people leaving California" will yield plenty of links to examples of data based facts and studies. Cheers!

Where do you live in California? because according to a May 2, 2022 report from the California Department of Finance, California lost an estimated 117,552 residents last year. Thirty four out of fifty eight counties lost population last year, including the three most populated counties (L.A., San Diego, & Orange). You won't see much reporting about this on CNN, MSNBC, or most of the other main stream media.

I have my 2 yrs old gas story. For three weeks I managed a dairy ranch in the state of Campeche. The owner, an Aussie, was on his annual vacation back home. I used an old model Ford to travel the ranch. It's tank became low and gas for the ranch hands was low. I loaded the back with twenty liter cans and proceeded to the nearest gas station 36 kilometers away in Hopelchin. At roughly 15 kilometers I ran out of gas. A passing pickup, stopped, some passengers pushed my truck further down the road A way from a curve. The driver then dropped me off at the village of Ich-Ek. (Love those Mayan names)He told me to walk three houses down a dirt road, gas was available. A lady was selling liter bottles of gas. Her basic clientele were moped owners. My plan was to catch a local bus back to my truck. Another pickup picked me up and deposited me and my two liters of gas. As you say, Mexicans do the sweetest and kindest things

If you can't trust a guy you met at the urinals, who _can_ you trust? Our little house in San Antonio centro forgoes the tinaco, pumping on demand from the aljibe, routing hot through the on-demand boiler: another simple method. I guess you can expend the electricity to pump it upward and use free gravity to bring it down, or just pump when there's need. Lo mismo, más o meno.

I have been here in Mexico for a long time. Gas has always been more than double the cost of the US and diesel used to be very cheap. Well now the cost of gasoline is $22 pesos per liter and diesel is $23 pesos per liter. Multiply that by 3.78 and divide by 20 and then lick your wounds knowing they didn't dispence a full measurement that they sold you. Groceries here are cheaper. I grow a big garden here and that goes a long way to cutting costs. I do some welding for people around here and used to trade it out for materials. Now I will mention something to you that's a very real threat. The CPS NAZIs that take your children when ever they can accuse you of anything. Couple that with the complete disregard for your religious beliefs and stance on the jab. You may never get your kids back healthy or that they haven't been raped by some foster parent or other sibling. Many people live beyond their means. If they were to readjust their lives and get out of the high priced areas of the USA and go to some small farming community and grow a garden, they could be happier and raise their children in the Sinagogues or Churches they want. Home school your own children. Eat better and avoid tyranny from the government. There are shootings here in Mexico also, but generally if you're not involved in drugs or messing with another man's family, you don't stand much of a chance of getting hurt. People want things to go back to how they were before the Chinese couf, and now with the money pox. But that's the real problem. People are jacked up on "hopium" and they need to realize things are just gonna get worst. Be proactive and make things better for yourselves and your families. It's hard work, but it can be done.

Hello Jerry. Thank you for your wonderful México stories. I'm Mexican, live in the states, I visit México once a year or every other year but I learn alot about my country thru you. I am thankful for that. America is in a sad state of affairs when 19 children get massacred with a military style weapon and some of our leader's only suggestion is to arm each teacher.... imagine a frail 70 plus old female teacher having to suddenly engage in a gun battle with someone shooting a military weapon???? America is so enamoured with weapons that it is willing to sacrifice more and more young innocent lives in order to keep it's addiction to guns. I don't want this to be a point of debate. Just an opinion to be read and I don't expect a response. Regarding your low fuel issue, that Pemex truck came from heaven because you needed him at that moment....it wasn't a taco truck, it wasn't a passenger bus or any other type of goods or passenger delivery system....it was PEMEX!...LOL. How fortunate! An angel was watching over you and your wife Great story! Looking forward to more upcoming stories. Have a great day.

In the state of Nuevo León you don't need a water tank, until this year when the water ran out due to lack of rain. Let's hope it rains this year because I don't want to buy one. In addition, most of the houses do not have a cistern, so the water tank is only a Band-Aid for the lack of water and momentary pressure.

People must understand that relocating from one country to another is very hard physically, emotionally and mentally, you need to prepare yourself especially emotionally, now I would not recommend any US citizen especially anglos to make that move to Mexico why? Two simple reasons one the US society has been soo brain washed to the core about that México its all about " bad" worthless, even in reality it's all the opposite so there you have a big mental problem. Second Mexico in reality it's not for everybody, what I mean is, México is like entering to another world, lifestyle is very slow, very relaxed that makes it look boring, but it's not. Mexico's system it's absolutely different, people has more freedom in any aspect and most of the times people from USA that move there they have no idea how to interpret and adapt to it because they endoctrinated to just ovey laws, rules and regulations. So think twice before you may have the experience of your life. Obviously lifestyle in United States its going to get absolutely worse by the day, and do not expect to get any better.

Where did this shooter get the AR-15????? Also with the SS increase……..we get an increase of Medicare cost increase. Government has no money…….this country has been bankrupt for some time. If you have any savings bonds…..I’d cash them out. I believe we will be going through a financial reset.

🙋🏼‍♂ JC: Does needing all those water pumps require a lot more maintenance on all those pumps ⁉ Or, are they made well enough (pun-intended) that the pump mechanisms are pretty reliable ⁉

Good information! I saw a story about the government bonds and I will be purchasing some on Tuesday. I'm working on my appointment for a temporary visa this month. I have had some stress about what can go wrong if I move to Mexico but I think I'm finally over that. I have to remind myself of baby steps and one day at a time. Question, do you use a mail service and I just saw a utuber living in Chapala who uses USA Medicare advantage medical. Do you have any ideas about this. Thanks

I really think MX. is safer then here in the States. Now that's my own opinion. But when something does happen in MX. It alot at one,but here in the States it happens every night in every State. That's how I look at . Our gun violence is BAD! WORST THEN ANY COUNTRY! And I hope you do know in MX.their always celebrating something. But NY. is loud too and some neighborhoods,🤪😂😂

Yes. It would have been too graphic to talk about the damage done to a childs body when struck by a rifle round. The coroner had to get DNA samples from many of the parents to correctly ID the bodies.

We all know this. It's the reason why he didn't want to talk about it. Vote Beto if in TX. Make a change. And JC gets all the news. Take care.

@@loriholman1459 democrats are not the answer. Beto is just worthless. Republicans aren't much of an answer either tbh but show me ONE large city run by Dems (there are a lot) that small businesses are doing well and crime is under control. At some point you have to look at what they actually DO and not just listen to what they say.

Many americans still live in the comfort zone thinking that they will make it ok when they retire. Statistics say you need 1.8 million in the bank for that to happen. Seeing the prices go higher than ever before it will be quite hard for the standard American to make enough to retire. unfortunately the US is in decline and it is obvious for everybody living abroad. I feel half a million would be enough maybe a bit less for someone to retire in Mexico, depending on your lifestyle. i feel the more time runs much more people will retire in Mexico that it is not perfect, but gives you a lot of freedoms.

IMO the USofA used to be a nation about US. Now it’s become a nation all about ME. And the consequences of selfishness and narcissism. On a different topic. Look at chart of I Bond yields since they were first issued. Your local investment advisor never said anything about I Bonds.

They knew that the government needs to know their limitations. It's a declaration of the inalienable rights or the people that can't be taken. It let's the government know that they will forever be at the bottom of the food chain. All of the people that want the government to save them are wrong in their thinking.

More bang for your buck, but that bang comes from U.S. buck spend the bang in the country that gives you that buck, and you are not an ex-pat you are an immigrant. Why is that so difficult to say.

I don't believe our US govt "gives us" anything.!!! Govt has no profitable business other than TAXATION/THEFT. His Social Security income is repayment of currency that the Govt STOLE from HIM. Why do you feel Tyrants should be rewarded? SPEND IT ANYWAY/ANYWHERE YOU'D LIKE ! 🤠✌
