This is considered one of WVA's premier creaking destinations. It is difficult to catch. Most people start running it around 2 FT and go up to about 4 FT or slightly higher. The river was rising as we put on and Pinch creek added juice to the lower section (hence the big interval in level). This is the section near Beckley/Prince WVA. Most of this run is solid class 3-4 waves, holes, and slides. There are what I would consider a few strong class 4, possibly class 5s depending on your viewpoint and skill level. Be VERY mindful of wood in this run. It is fast and continuous for almost 12 miles (assuming you do the upper and lower) so be conditioned as well. I hope you enjoy! Most of the rapids are unnamed or I don't know the names so I just put a number next to the ones that were bigger in my mind.
