Personally, I find in this film the right balance between palace intrigues and gladiatorial fights with a light pace of narration. This film successfully balances between the combat scenes in the Colosseum and the behind-the-scenes political intrigues. The plot thread of the two parts is not lost, although 24 years have passed between the films. It's a pretty decent sequel that focuses not on a dramatic story, but on action. Probably one of the bloodiest moments of the film is the final massacre. Lucius and his gladiators are the first to reach the Macrinus site, and from there a continuous bloodshed begins. There was also a scene with a flooded Colosseum and sharks that start attacking fighters who fell from a floating ship, and all this was a recreation of the famous naval battles. Another bloody scene is the battle of Lucius on the rhinoceros. • 48:27 I agree with Magy that the film has great parallels with the first one. Yes, it really is. The film formally continues the plot, but in fact rather repeats it with minor changes. There are flashbacks throughout the film, which are accompanied by the familiar music of Hans Zimmer. This should emphasize the hereditary connection of the films, but in fact it serves as a reminder that instead of "Gladiator 2" it would be possible to watch the first "Gladiator" again. • 48:50 Yes, Laura got the gist right. They are fighting for the same cause - the overthrow of the rulers of the Roman Empire. As in the first film, an uprising begins to develop to overthrow the emperors Caracalla and Geta, and Lucius becomes a key figure in it. The main goal of Lucius, the representative of the imperial family, who fights in the arena, is to repeat the feat of Maximus, destroying this empire. More and more political intrigues are unfolding around gladiatorial fights held in honor of Acacius, the general who conquered Lucius' homeland. Thus, the heroes are fighting for the overthrow of the old order and the establishment of new, more just conditions for the Roman Empire. the sequel is secondary and largely repeats the plot of the first part. The sequel not only uses similar tropes, but is also saturated with references to the first movie. By the end of the film, Lucius puts on the armor of Maximus and recognizes his birthright as the heir to Rome. He declares his intention to return it to the people, similar to Maximus' mission to turn the empire into a republic in the first movie. • 50:38 Some of the expectations that were placed on the film were the continuation of the story of the grown-up Lucius, a large-scale production, and a powerful and impressive visual. the last scene refers to the ending of the first movie. Thank you girls for the amazing reactions to the best moments of this movie.🧲🦊🧲

"What we do in life, echoes in eternity" - this being repeated constantly throughout the movie is a perfect example of "modern entertainment". Seeing the famous quote written over Maximus' tomb was enough, faded away, barely decipherable. The constant repetition is done for modern audiences with the tiktok attention span. Instead of "show, don't tell", we have constant "tell tell tell".

General Acacius and Lucius both shared some of Maximus' traits, both fighting in their own way for the well being of Rome. Connie Nielsen as Lucilla performed admirably and it truly feels like she respected Maximus' wishes until the very end.

For your next movie i suggest that you should watch "Les Misérables" (2012) because it delivers a powerful and emotionally gripping story with incredible performances from a star-studded cast, accompanied by stunning visuals and a captivating live-sung musical score that captures the raw intensity of the classic Victor Hugo novel, making for a truly immersive cinematic experience. To answer your question/clear the confusion, no, the romans definitely didn't have the technology/means neccesary to transport sharks over long distances or to capture/deal with them properly. The Colosseum naval battle was done purely for the spectacle, fan service, not grounded in reality.

For my part, the first will remain a work of art, we probably expected a second, but not necessarily in this style that has been too much denatured and a gladiator without Russel Crowe makes feel like a big lack, About Russell Crowe I would regret the bad choices of film that could be attributed to him after Gladiator, because after, we saw him practically more, or if we saw it, it was in movies not super crazy crazy, too bad, because he is an excellent actor. After yes, the film to bring the excellent Danzel Washington my favorite actor, but personally I did not see him in a film of this kind, I can’t explain why, but for me it is not a movie for him. In short, this film is frankly a disappointment in view of the quality of the first one that will remain a work of art, ah oups, I repeat myself, but I think we all agree on that point. ;)

Don't critics saying about 'Gladiator II' because it's an enjoyable film of this year, especially when it's honoring the legacy of the original film since Ridley Scott truly delivered a great follow-up to his epic masterpiece back from 2000.
@Coach-rq6jx2 күн бұрын
What I've realized is that Gladiator still has a kind of cult following of a fanbase that seems to take the existence of the second movie as a threat to the legacy of the first, which it definitely is not. Treat it like a different movie that it is, and you will enjoy it. I think that with extreme patriotism for the prequels, you will hate the sequels as soon as the project is announced.

Strength and Honor, What we do in Life, Reverberates through Eternity, I think there are no more beautiful words than these, I have been carrying these words with me for 24 years now, my father and I are super fans of the Gladiator, of Roman history, we have been to Rome many times, but there has not yet been a way to see the Colosseum of Rome up close, but I have seen up close and even inside the famous Colosseum of Capua where the legendary gladiator Spartacus fought because I have Capua an hour from my house, and thanks to all these legendary heroes (Achilles, Perseus, Spartacus, Maximus, Robin Hood, Ivanhoe, Valiant, and King Arthur) that I chose to become a medieval archer years ago, I won a tournament and classified by category among the 20 strongest medieval archers in Italy for a year, and right there those words made sense! 🟢⚪🔴

Denzel Washington's Macrinus is a captivating character - we see him dominate every single scene he's in and his ruthless ascension to the top of Rome's political ladder was a brutal spectacle. A different type of villain from the first movie's Commodus but good nonethless. Compared to Macrinus, the twin emperor's are pale imitations of Commodus, mildly entertaining but their goofy psycho games get old really fast.
