LOL. They literally used Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" (first movement) as the entire trailer music. They reacted so hard to everyone's complaint about the rap, that they went all the way back to Beethoven haha. I think they could've been more creative than that with the music, but I guess... most audiences aren't gonna even realize it's just a piano sonata orchestrated with different instruments.

Yeah trailer 1 was garbage. I mean rap music with a Roman epic? Only thing that saved me was seeing Hans Zimmer did the score again so I knew there must be something epic sounding after all. The co-emperors, Caracalla and Geta, sons of the late emperor Septimus Severus, are not known in history to look and act effeminate as depicted here. In fact, look at the ancient bust of Caracalla and you see a scowling, gruff, bearded, pugnacious tough guy. Geta, however is probably close to depicted here. Caracalla assassinated Geta and tried to have all images of him destroyed or erased. But a few managed to survive and shows a young, clean-shaven man. Rome shown here around 209 A.D., is not that far off from how it looked in 181 A.D. which is why the two gladiator movies look similar in background.

I just finished watching gladiator 1 and I they basically made it seem like Rome was going to grow better and more just, yet the games are still being held even though at the end of the first movie the colosseum was empty, I don’t get this gladiator 2 movie and even if it made sense with some kind of weird logic, IT WILL NEVER BEAT THE FIRST MOVIE. That was a masterpiece compared to the rap trailers and stuff I’m seeing of the sequel. Also I won’t be apart of the corporate degenerates trying to get their moneys worth riding on the coattails of the first movie. This keeps happening to movies and people or at least I have realised not to waste money and attention on that stuff.

Ridley Scott would have scripts scattered all over his house - a bit of light reading on the john, for instance - but I wish he would throw himself into another series like Raised By Wolves. That stuck with me far longer than Prometheus.

As a person that studied abroad blacks have been in Rome. If there can be white Africans why can’t there be black Roman’s? Rome even had a black ruler from North Africa which is present day Libya.

Try again, Septimius Severus wasn't black, and the senate wasn't black either. Statues exist of him and he doesn't look black in the slightest. Just because you MIGHT have had a few Ethiopian merchants doesn't mean the senate was black, it's ridiculous. And casting white people as sub Saharan Africans pre-1700 would also be ridiculous. It's a vast over-exaggeration in an attempt to rewrite history.

I can feel that this movie will be a swing and a miss. The first one was outstanding across the board...this one looks like they are patching together some ideas & actors from the first and using a weak premise. Also, Denzel is a great actor but him not using an accent at all is bizarre
