The actor who played Proximus (the Gladiator trainer) was Oliver Reed. He was an extraordinary british actor, with a very interesting, fascinating and atypical life. He also was known for his alcoholism, having some scandals on TV and cinema as a consequence of this. During the filming of Gladiator in 1999, he sadly passed away. He had been sober for months, but one night (during a break from filming the movie) in an Irish pub in Malta, he drank three bottles of Jamaican rum, eight bottles of German beer, numerous double whiskeys and challenged five young English sailors of the Royal Navy to arm-wrestling at The Pub bar (which after this incident was called Ollie's Last Pub). His bill, which was never paid, is preserved in a decorative frame in the bar.

The sand is a trick all golfers know... If your hands are sweaty, rub a handful of dry sand between them. It both absorbs the moisture and adds grit for much better grip. Works like charm.

I used to put this movie on just to annoy my girlfriend, it's one of my favourite movies. She hated it.

Why you Cut the most iconic words Out of the reaction? My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son. Husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

Thank you..This is probably the only female reaction to this movie, where they do not openly show emotions to the public through tears, against the background of which they earn views and likes... Thank you, I appreciated it, since you were not pretending).. Good luck to you and your channel.. Respect from Germany)

thank you. that is bad for business. i got a lot of comments how i have no emotions, am not sensitive etc. and of course views are bad. but i do not like to cry on camera.

Well the story isn't historically accurate, the emperors were real. The "evil" emperor Commodus wasn't killed in an epic duel. He was actually assassinated by a wrestler in a public bath house.

Excellent Reaction to a legendary movie. Btw, the ritual of dirt rubbing of his hands is for drying moisture to help to grip better the sword or weapon handles. Look forward to more of your content. Take care, JD

24:17 I am guessing it is maybe because the sweat during the fight might make the sword slippery in his hand, so the dirt might provide a little friction against the movement and help him get a better grip. But it is just a guess. It could also just be a ritual he has before a fight. Or it might be both.

Also a reminder that he as a farmer likes/enjoys working with the land, so the ritual thing is a good guess

hi, just a bit of constructive feedback, if you could edit around sentences that would greatly improve your videos....edits that come in mid sentence or get cut off mid sentence are quite jarring.....

Some people watch reaction videos to re-live powerful scenes in film by empathizing with the person reacting. That's impossible to do with your videos because of two reasons: You talk the entire time and you have practically zero emotional reaction. Good luck!

I don't like when people talk while the movie is playing. They should pause it before they make a commentary.
