this is 1972, not 1968..."I Don't Want To Do Wrong" was contained [in] the "If I Were Your Woman" lp (released at the END of 1970), and was GKTP's follow-up single from same -- released well into 1971...Also, during this appearance, the quartet performed "Make Me The Woman You Go Home To", which was their "Standing Ovation" single, released in '72...#factcheck

I went to see Gladys in Louisville Kentucky back in the 80s and my pregnant wife and I had seats center stage 2nd row and I was so excited to see her. Gladys sang 2 songs and my wife said to me we are going to have to leave because I am feeling really sick. That was 40 years ago and I still have the wife and I'm still listening to the "Empress of Soul."
They are performing in a TV studio. The weekly show was called "SOUL!"

Why did she ever leave the pips!?

I mean, they were together from kids. And these weren't just people she sang with; one was her brother and the other her cousins. At a certain point, a woman wants to be in control of her own destiny, not tied to men or being in the minority to men.

@@beautyRest1 Well, you're not Gladys Knight. You don't know what that experience was like being the youngest and the only girl with your older brother and cousins around you in your personal AND professional life daily.

@@beautyRest1 She was tied to them. It was "Gladys Knight AND the Pips." TF? Just like Diana Ross or Smokey Robinson ... she wanted to be just herself, not her AND other people. What's hard to understand about that?
