I bought this light about a year and a half ago and I LOVE. I have the table top attachment and the mirror attachment and have it on my vanity. Use it literally everyday & have traveled with it multiple times. If you can hold off, they go about 30% off on Black Friday, when I got mine.

Noooo.... Another thing to add to my already super long and super expensive list of stuff to get for my kit - oh well :D I thought I could get away with using a cheap soft box from Amazon - but you've convinced me to reconsider ;) Thank you for this in depth review. You make my life soooo much easier - which is amazing since it's already hard enough when you're just starting out. Everything is so overwhelming. I'm quite the perfectionist, so I try to whole ass everything I set out to do - especially when it comes to something I'm so passionate about. So informative! I was going to buy a Ring Light but this seems even better.... adding it to my list! I'm thinking by adding velcro to the back of remote you could stick it the unit or wear it on a velcro wristband/bracelet or add a velcro to brush belt and have it stuck there.... just use strong velcro... 😉

Your cord is probably broken, definitely get a new cord, that’s the same issue I had with 3 of mine and I threw them away but now I found the problem

Thank you so much for this review! I have a ring light that I've used for clients, but as you mentioned, I'm always concerned about blocking the light and I find myself having issues when it comes to keeping things even on both sides of the face. This would definitely alieviate that issue!

Do you have the lights at your clients face height, so shining directly at them, or higher and shining slightly down? How far away is your client from the light? I have this system and love it, just learning the right positioning. I really appreciate the time you put into your videos and I can’t thank you enough for sharing your knowledge.

It totally depends on how much space I have to be honest. I prefer the light be just a bit higher than my client’s eye line and directed towards the face but so many times I don’t have enough room for the setup to be perfect. It also depends on how bright the room is that I am working on. Sometimes I have no choice but to have the light close to my talent.

Omg God bless you sis!!! You’re the only KZbinr I’ve seen that reviewed the light in a dark room (AS YOU SHOULD). Every other KZbinr reviews it in a bright room and I don’t understand how they think the viewers would be able to see how the light actually can be in a full on bright room😩🤦‍♀️

I love this light. I purchased it during our shut down. I love the two light feature and have had great luck with it so far! The one thing we’ve noticed while trying to take photos in the salon with it is the light has no diffuser and can create harsh photos. Have you found this to be a problem for your photos, have you found a solution for this or is this maybe just a user error?

Hey Amy! You'd have to give me some more information on what you mean by 'harsh photos' is the lighting harsh? Is there shadow? Is the shadow on the face or on the background? Depending on your client's distance from the light, camera, competition with other lights in your space this is bound to happen, so you may have to play around with a few different set ups. You can also place a thin sheet of parchment paper as a diffusion filter for the light (this is a diy trick) and that may soften the light.

This was so so helpful! How much do you recommend this light? As the stand seems a little brittle. Or are there others similar to this one you also recommend? I‘ve been looking for months for a light for my self-tapes for acting and I’m trying to avoid ringlights at all costs because of their eye effect

I really love this light - I think the quality is definitely on par with the price. There are better lighting systems available and there are definitely worse. I love that it is super light weight and compact and that I can adjust it to different temperatures. If you tighten everything on the stand and make sure the base is wide enough there is no problem with the stand. For self tapes - it really depends on what you want with your lighting (temperature, brightness, size, etc) and where you are setting it up. There's a lot of great lights available that will work that are just LED panels on stands but they are a bit larger (also brighter) and may take up more space.

I have a ring light and I agree about standing in front of it and blocking the light. How far do you recommend putting the light from the person you’re working on please? I read varying things. Thanks.

For the conditions we work in, it would depend on the pre existing light in the space, and how much room you have. I would recommend setting it up and seeing what looks best. In my opinion there isn’t a distance recommendation that would be accurate for every job.

That is totally up to you and your preference for what lighting you like to work under. I would personally prefer daylight balanced (5500k) with an option to dim the light.

There isn't an app to turn this on, you can use the remote or there is a button on the actual light you can press.

That's really up to you! You have to think about cost, how easy it is to transport, and what type of lighting you might want based on the type of work you do.

Is anybody experienced an issue with USB port???i got mine today,set everything up and USB port worked fine but after few minutes it stoped charging(I have tried at least three working cables).Light itself works perfectly fine as it should do.will be happy to get your advice how to fix this bug or what possible solution for it. My wife has her own beauty room as her do away from everyone in the house. I am trying to get her better lighting in there, are LED lighting strips ok too?

That would depend on how bright they are, what the colour temperature is and if they can be be diffused so in photos the lighting is flattering. I change colour temperatures and brightness each time I work with these lights so you will have to figure out of the strips will be workable for her.
