That's an impressive guy. He's come through a very tough upbringing and turned it into something very positive. Plus young people will respect him because he's speaking from personal experience.

At last! So refreshing to hear someone speak honestly without the 'poor me' pity party; someone that knows that chucking tablets / medications at addiction is not helping those who are ready to go deeper and actually change their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Thank you sir!

It's quite amazing this podcast... Everything you guys are talking about I've been looking into for months/years. Meditation, NLP, Law Of Attraction, Positive mentality and outlook, Being the commander of your own ship (self), Writing down goals and striving for them, To basically clean up your life and start living properly and not accepting the mediocre or living rudderless. Top class this episode lads. Thanks for that. It was fate I found yer channel James. I saw thumbnail of you and Blink and I clicked it on my feed . watched the Georgie one and the homeless at Christmas one you just did and now this. Superb content ;) EDIT*** I had the reading issue of not being able to remember anything I was reading James. You will basically read to slowly and constantly skip back as you read and your brain can't comprehend or remember what you've read. Good books to help combat this would be Tony Buzan: study skills and speed reading books. Dominic O'Brien: Amazing memory, is another fantastic book on how to remember anything.

@@hangedman821 They have the power to control your mind because you allowed them to do so. Manipulation is evil so keep away from cults and take control of your own mind. Go out each day, hold your head up high and tell yourself you can do wonderful things. Start by smiling at the people you meet in the street and brighten up their day. A smile can go a long way. You have the power to think yourself into a state of happiness. Yes start with the smile and use positive language when speaking to people. If someone has a problem never respond with 'poor you' as that will bring the tears to their eyes and throw them into the negative state of 'self pity' a very destructive state of mind to be in. Tell them, 'don't worry mate. Everything is going to be all right. ' This positivity will bounce back to you giving you new positive energy therefore beginning the change in your whole being. Take it from there. May great things happen to you. NEVER EVER WALLOW IN SELF PITY.

I think the past is never really the Past!..So i understand &recognize so much of what Ged was referencing! .And his ideas about learning "Coping skills& Mechanisms" are&have to be the right approach! ..I had let's say a challenging upbringing in London(being born into a large Poor,Irish ☘️ family of 8 kids&they could easily have been 11) Parents with nothing in common,"Fish out of water" in London,a Ol Man who mostly ignored u,(which was a relief, from the early days, because he was someone to be feared) .So I could go on,but fortunately I managed to keep my nose clean, always worked hard,,avoided the Drug scene &gradually, slowly, but surely, learn to ease off the Booze&learn how to drink sensibly in moderation,if at all! . But I don't kid myself, each day is a challenge,so i use work to keep me focused! .And living in another Country, gave me another challenge, which helps to keep me focused&alert.. Apologies for my ramble! .Stay Healthy in these challenging times👍☘️ .

Near the end... Ged talks about how we only have so much energy and people dying younger.. He's right in the sense that if we don't look after ourselves spending all this energy on other people we do unravel... What is happening is we have these things called telomeres...they are part of our DNA, the more energy we spend on looking after others, or chronic stress... this contributes to the unravelling of our telomeres & they can also be shorter if a father figure in non-present in the home. Imagine telomeres are like threads on a shoe lace... when the glue starts to wear away and the thread becomes frayed.. that's exactly what's happening with our telomeres.. once they start to unravel... so do we. Great interview - I have learned about all the things Ged talks about but for some reason I cannot put that into practice. I have bettered myself I am on the brink of securing my Masters Degree but I still have issues. Hard to shake all of our issues but managed to improve in some areas. I'm now more educated yet still deal with the demons. ..Hard going.

Easily one of the best JE podcasts. This guy really knows what he is talking about. I'd be anxious if I met Jed just because he is so clever and switched on about this subject, really contemporary ideas he has tae. He touches on the GP, therapist, etc, telling you stuff but have absolutely no benefit from getting to out the pit. Useless, old analogue theories from last century.
