I don't know if you'll come to Glasgow again, but if you do, here are some more free things to do, and if you don't maybe this will be some good info for other people planning to come: 1) The Museum of Religion - close to the Necropolis and Cathedral, and The Provand's Lordship (the oldest house in Glasgow, built in 1471) just across the road from it. 2) The Gallery of Modern Art, just round the corner from George Square, right in the centre of Glasgow. If you walk up Buchanan Street (where the piper was), you take a right at Gordon Street and that takes you through to it. George Square, incidentally, was used as a stand-in for Philadelphia in the film World War Z. 3) The Glasgow Science Centre - just along the road (towards the city centre) from the Transport Museum. It's a fairly short walk, and take a right across the river. * You have to pay here, though: £11 to get in. 4) The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (known colloquially as just "The Art Galleries", if you're asking for directions) is not far from the Botanic Gardens: You cross from the Botanics' entrance onto Byres Road, walk down it to the end (taking the left fork onto Church Street) then left along Dumbarton Road and you'll soon see it. Glasgow University is not far from The Art Galleries, should you wish to go and see it, and you can see the steeple from the Art Galleries. 5) The Burrell Collection/Museum (housing artefacts and paintings from a wide variety of places and times, collected by Sir William Burrell, a wealthy Glaswegian shipping magnate and art collector) is on the South Side of Glasgow: It's a short train journey (10-15 mins) from Central Station. You catch the train to Pollokshaws West station, which is marked as the get off point for the Burrell, turn left out of the station and walk down to the entrance to Pollok Country Park, in which the museum is situated. It's a ten minute walk thru the park from there. WARNING: Make sure you get on the train that goes to PollokSHAWS WEST station, and not to any of the other 3: Pollokshaws EAST, PollokSHIELDS West, or Pollokshields East!!! The Burrell is closed just now for renovations, but ALSO in Pollok Country Park is: 6) POLLOK HOUSE: A stately country dwelling built in 1752 in some pleasant grounds with gardens, and a short walk from the Burrell Collection, through fields with shaggy highland cows in them (fenced off, in case you're worried about their big sharp horns!). * You have to pay to enter Pollok House, but it's nice just to walk around the gardens on a sunny day.

Welcome to Glasgow guys, my home town--nice video, that's us on the tourist map now--the endless adventures in town--we too like the transport museum as its sometimes called, never been to the botanical gardens but it looks good--Thanks for visiting--you do know that just about 20 miles north is Loch Lomond and the start of the Western Highlands. Still, maybe another time--thanks guys.

Wow. This was so interesting for me to watch. Main reason is that I'm half Scottish (eastern Scotland, Edinburgh way) and yet I haven't really ever experienced Glasgow or the majority of western Scotland. The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is also a great place to visit and is only a 5 minute walk from the Botanic Gardens through Kelvingrove Park and you get to see some of the beautiful buildings that make up Glasgow University too ! PS All museums in Glasgow are free and have donation boxes in the foyer too. The best time to visit The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is at lunch time about 112:00 as they have a daily concert with the organ at that time too and there is a cafe where you can get lunch too.

Thanks for the useful tips, that is sone thing that most travel vlogers forget to include. Most people just show how much fun they are having but forget to keep their audience informed on what to do and not to do whilst visiting. Personally before I travel I am always looking for things to entertain the kids in all types of wether conditions. Scotland is one of my bucket list countries so I will surly visit some of the places on this list
@Theendlessadventure7 жыл бұрын
It's a great country to explore with kiddos! There are so many free museums and parks, so you'll always have places to go no matter the weather. We didn't end up going to the science center in Glasgow (we ran our of time, plus it cost money), but they have a building there that rotates 360degrees...if you make it there before us, we'd love to hear what the kids think about that 😊
@georgesaguna7 жыл бұрын
We are off to Madrid next week so it might have to wait till easter. If you are looking for some where in Europe which is easy to reach you should visit us in Malta. Its a little island south of the island of Sicily. We are pretty small but extremely surprising. Our history is jam packed. Just to give you an idea we have temples which are older than stonehenge. Our capital city Valletta is going to be the capital of culture for 2018 other than also being a UNESCO world heritage site.
@Theendlessadventure7 жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness, Malta is definitely on our bucket list. We had no idea it has such old temples - amazing! When we head that way we'll definitely be hitting you up for recommendations 😊 Have so much fun in Madrid - hopefully there'll be a drone video when you return!? 😄
@georgesaguna7 жыл бұрын
Thats the first thing I pack, after the kids that is. Let me know for sure, I will be more then happy to help you out. There are too many things to see here and most go unnoticed as many tourists don't get off the main attractions. I live on the second island which is completely different, Gozo.

The "double decker trolley car" is, in fact, a Glasgow Tram in the colours of Glasgow Coprporation. Most British city trams were double deckers a bit like that one. With very few exceptions, the old tramway systems were ripped out after World War 2.

You talk about finding things to do for free, but fail to mention that all museums, exhibitions, and so on in Glasgow are free. I don't know the situation now, I suppose it's still the same, but when I was young pubs weren't even allowed a cover charge for live music, so going to see bands in the best music pubs of those days was also free. Free entertainment in Glasgow has never really really been an alien concept.

I dont know why someone will refer to scotland as a country when its just another region of the UK which is the independend country and yet, Refer to Africa with over 50 soveriegn nations as a country as well. It just shows that even you guys in the west choose to be ignorant of a lot of things. Accept ur mistake and take correction, afterall most of the partition was done by u guys to begin with.
