Great drone footage of the Cambridge St works. Gives you a clear idea of how it's progressing.

Another great review. The roll-out seems to be accelerating at last. I hadn't noticed the new section at JP Morgan. Clyde St eastbound is a bit of a dog's breakfast, especially as the toucan crossing at Gorbals St / NCN 75 has gone. I'm looking forward to seeing the South City Way extension round Queens Park to Battlefield starting soon.

Any idea how to legally cycle east (up the Clyde) through that junction? Also, is the Clyde Street cycle lane bi-directional? I don't think it is, but why not? Who do I even ask, the police, the council? So many questions haha
@Jon_Oates
@Jon_Oates 8 ай бұрын
@@maksymilianpieper644 As it stands, I don't think you can, as what was a toucan crossing now appears to be a puffin, requiring you to dismount and walk across. I need to take a closer look to be sure. I believe the Clyde St. section between the Clutha and the High Court has been marked incorrectly, and should be bidirectional. A bit of a pickle. The Council should be your first port of call.

Exactly. That junction at Clyde street and Gorbals street hasn’t been properly thought out. I keep thinking (giving the planers the benefit of the doubt) it’s going to eventually make sense when/if the cycle lane becomes bidirectional. The lane going into the ASL doesn’t fill me with any hope that that’s going to happen anytime soon and could also be a potential conflict creator due to drivers not using it properly.

@@Jon_Oates the Clyde st lane needs to be made bidirectional (it’s wide enough) or a similar lane added to the other side of the road

Great video - really interesting. Look forward to Cambridge St properly opening up to cycle traffic again. Those last aerial shots of the city are really something 👌

Cambridge St looks as though it's finally getting there, although they had a cycle lane there before

I see you use miller street for North South route too. Feels like that could be a natural bike highway branch from SCW too. Just need to formalise some truck management as they reverse down the whole road there and pavement parking is rife.

Always go this way unless it’s really early and then I use Buchanan street. For me west Nile street would be the best option to put a cycle lane on as it has a more gentle slope and this would be a serious statement by Glasgow city council taking space away from cars on the only two way north south street in the city centre.

Totally. Yes I'm buchanan st in the morning and down the road in evening when it gets too busy. Buchanan St delivery driver standards can be incredible. Beeped out the way, shouted at, Speeding and driven at deliberately.

Haven't they started works under M8 near Chinese market? I have seen they closed that road now, which comes from Dobbies loan

@@glasgowcycles could be temporary closure, I was driving there two weeks ago roughly, there was a diversion. I thought they might start demolition of that bridge under the road as they will probably replace it with a traffic light

Does the council (or anyone) have a map of Glasgow's cycleways?

As someone who works at the Charing X end, the state of Sauchiehall St makes me sad and angry. The infrastructure developments are great obviously, but until it's backed up with an actual regeneration of the businesses and buildings on the street I fear that it'll just continue to decline. Out of curiosity, does anybody know who actually owns the building/plot that the ABC is on? Is it still privately owned or have the council taken over the site? Do the insurance company now own it? Not sure how these things work, but assuming it's still privately owned it's a sad state of affairs that presumably holding on to the site and letting the land value increase is more profitable than regenerating it or selling it to someone who will. What a waste of public space. The council needs to get its finger out and start dishing out some grants, or better yet some CPOs.

Glasgow is a ghost town to what it was. The city centre used to be the beating heart, but it’s on life support. So much disruption to roads and with less lanes, one way systems. It’s basically a nightmare to take your Car in and that’s probably the agenda of the council who think we are like Barcelona with cafe culture forgetting it’s Scotland and it rains 300 days a year. Shops are derelict and min stores leaving. People rightly shopping at Silverburn, breahead and the fort as it’s easy with ample parking. The council seem to be on a self destructive program of building student flasks on every plot of land. At least Edinburgh has its tourism to keep it busy.
