Glasgow Marathon 1983

Highlights of the 1983 Glasgow Marathon. Originally broadcast on BBC Scotland.
14,300 entered, 9,600 registered and set off in conditions which although dry and cool were a bit windy for very fast times.
Peter Fleming seized his opportunity to to become an entirely deserving and appropriate winner running almost on his own doorstep. In this year's race, only his third marathon, he was always in control taking almost two minutes from his best with 2:17:46. Behind Peter, Bill Domonet, running for England, overtook Welshman Dai Evans (at 36 running a personal best) in the last mile to take second place.
