There was the recent episode where Starlight just traded off Trixie's caravan without permission. She didn't even think there was anything thing wrong with what she did. What right minded person would give away someone's house without telling.

Here’s something that all the current villains have that make easily duped people thinking they are misunderstood individuals: they have sob stories. No one sympathized with Starlight, Tempest, or anyone else until they cried about how hard they had it and turn em into the people they are, and people EAT IT UP and label it as “nuanced”. It took the main cast a hot minute to give Trixie or Discord the benefit of the doubt and you know what they lack? A sob story to guilt people into forgiving them. Anytime the Flim Flam Brothers shows up? Twilight is instantly skeptical of the two. Questionable given she quickly forgave a cult fascist and a terrorist to the kingdom because they moped about their past.....and gave them platforms. It’s really toxic to see this especially in a children’s program. Just because someone had it rough or have past baggage doesn’t excuse their current shitty behavior. Don’t forgive terrible people because they cried about their history. If they really want to change, they just do it rather than snag your sympathy.

She’s a sociopath through and through. As the saying goes actions speak louder than words, and in this case this expresses how utterly insaine, overpowered, and psychotic Starlight truly is. Ever since she got redeemed, I never trusted her because she could snap at any moment. Her character is so shoehorned in that they’ve started placing her in the right making the other characters on a lower peg instead of acting like they’re actual selves. She should’ve been sent to Tartarus the moment Twilight was able to calm her down during the season 5 final instead of forgiving her. She hasn’t earned her place in the group, and should’ve been sent away immedietly. Fantastic comentary Lily. :)

I just took a mouthful of coffee when you said that and immediately tried to avoid spraying it all over my laptop and now I'm coughing like crazy. x'D Seriously, every time you take those much-deserved jabs at people like Josh, Dr.Wolf, Silver Quill, etc, my day gets a little brighter knowing at least some people out there don't fall for their crap. Intent only matters if you learn from your mistakes, which Shartlight Glimmer does not. If you fuck up, you admit you fucked up as a starting base. She's never left that starting base and often doesn't even step up to the plate on that one.

I do kinda like her, but her fans annoy me a lot. "She's trying to change!" Okay? Show her go "I'm sorry" mid-tantrum? Show her almost get all.worked up and have her take a few deep breaths? Starlight is the character that fucked up the cartoon to me!!! Almost EVERY SINGLE villain had this godamm formula: "Ooooo I had a """"tragic past"""", so this give me the right to be a facist dictator" There are villains that are evil because they like being evil and some of them are really cool villains. Adagio is an example. Why the keep recycling this shiiit? It didn't worked with Shitligh! It won't work again 😡 That was a really good video ✌😄💕

I've never saw this video until now. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I also don't like Starlight. I remember I stopped watching the show in Celestial Advice, in 2017, being the episode Every little thing she does the one where the writers crossed the line. However, in 2020 I went back to finish the show, just for curiosity and, after finishing it in 2021, I'm glad that there are more people who didn't like her, which makes me glad, because the character concept of this is insane for a kids show, in the wrong way. These are my reasons to why she's the worst character in the show: -Her excessive power changes the bases of the show, especially the cutie marks, rendering them meaningless. -Her attitude, way of thinking and the things she says in the last 4 seasons conflict with her redemption arc. -The show isn't consequent to Starlight's actions. She's the most privileged and most forgiven character in the show regardless of her actions. -She's so inconsiderate and so manipulative that she's kinda like a sociopath. -And, considering these points, I don't think she's a good role model for the kids. I'm aware she has fans, but I'd bet that if they meet someone like Starlight, they would stop liking her. I'm saying this because I had a roommate for 9 months who acted like Starlight. He was horrible with everyone, he wanted to mess things up, he wanted to be rewarded for nothing... he was a dick. I'm trying not to talk too much about Starlight because she's the only fictional character that gives me anxiety. A way I have to deal with it is to make jokes. That way I'm less negative and less grumpy. I tend to be a very patient person, even more than I should. And most of the time I stand things that I don’t need to stand. But Josh Haber went way too far with Starlight. Considering that, after Cutie Re-mark, we see her manipulating her new "friends" (including Big Macintosh), the one who's supposed to be her best friend, sold Trixie's wagon even after knowing it's her only home and manipulating Twilight, Celestia and Luna, then no, I don't think she deserved that much spotlight in a show. One last thing: If explaining why Starlight doesn't work as a character is enough to set you off, then check your priorities. It's as easy as making sure the writers write a good character. If she was a good character, nobody would discuss that much about her. I like redemption themes. That's why I love Sunset Shimmer and Tempest Shadow. *But not at any cost.*
