My skin is as thin as paper and criticism make me feel horrible and I get discouraged immediately. Turns out I needed counseling as I put enormous pressure and expectations on myself to the point that I never get satisfied with my work, progress or achievement. The solution isn't banning harsh, angry or nitpicks critics but rather seeking counseling and working on yourself.

I believe with the new surge of critics being overly positive and repeating the phrase "It's just my opinion." is the reason Yahtzee, AVGN and others of a similar type are being called bad critics. When people see something they like be criticized by a person who is smarter than them, they make excuses about why they don't have to listen to the critic. People don't want to think what the critic is saying is true because they presume that they are stupid or have bad taste for liking something that is actually bad.

I'm going to be honest, I didn't like Praiser Pan, not because I dislike critics but because Praiser Pan didn't strike me as one. As you said, that kind of critic doesn't exist. On top of that, all of his so-called criticisms were surface level, knee jerk responses to things he didn't like and therefore could justify belittling as "not real art". You can argue they're criticisms all you wish, but Praiser Pan acted less like a critic and more like that one idiot who looks at a piece of non-realism art and says their kid can do it. (because sure, Becky, your kid can totally evoke the same emotion and message as an abstract artist with their crayon drawing of their family standing next to a disproportionally small house...) It belies a lack of understanding of the art world itself, which would NOT make him a highly-regarded and respected art critic in the art world, to the point where if we were to butt heads either in the MLP world or in the real world I'd turn the tu quoque (I hope I'm referencing the right one) argument he used on Fluttershy right back at him and ask to see his credentials, because no critic with that big a name has any excuse to not recognize mixed media presentation, cubism, assemblage OR fiber art, regardless of whether he praised or panned it.

The moral of the story was actually that even if you are a critic, unless you are a beautiful god-queen, no one cares *joke*

I always wondered, what was the deal with being called bhaalspawn way back in the day. Was that just some sort of edgy teen phase or something?
