Oh my gracious---that is the best result I have ever seen with Frosted Lemon---which I have not had happy results with---so you have given me new hope.....OK so I have never had Archie's Base....I see folks playing with it all the time---I get it assists in runs/movement....could Amaco's Oatmeal be used instead? I have always used Oatmeal for when I need movement..... thank you again for the great content!!!
@SarahWaltonPottery3 жыл бұрын
Thank you KD for your kind words and support of my channel! To answer your question, I have used Potters Choice Oatmeal as well and have achieved some nice movement and are times when I prefer using Oatmeal, however Archie's Base has a very unique look to it and I really do like it...a lot! There is more of a creamy white look to it whereas Oatmeal has more of a yellow-gold hue to it. I also have experimented with Light Flux by Mayco, but tend to gravitate to Archie's base. Hope that answers your question.

Hi Sarah can i apply clear coat on the mat stoneware. Thank you.
@SarahWaltonPottery3 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, Yes you can apply clear glaze on stoneware..be sure to test your glaze and clay compatibly to ensure you get the results you want. Glazes react very differently on different clay bodies. I have used clear glaze and quite like the look revealing the colour of the stoneware underneath It has a different feel than the raw stoneware. Great question 😉 Thanks for watching!

Great video thank you! Is too many layers ever an issue with crawling? Is there a max number of layers for good results?
@SarahWaltonPottery3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sofia, thanks for your question. In short, yes, you can apply too much glaze and have adverse results, crawling is one of them, you can also get bubbling which are like large pinholes. Too much glaze can also run right off the pot! You will learn thru trial and error..unfortunately..how much is too much. Reading the manufacturer’s recommend coats helps too. I stick to 3-4 glaze layers total, with a few exceptions. Again, depending on the desired results, you may want thinner coats or less layers. Best to do “tests” of glazes using a succession of 1,2,3,4 coats and see what you like the best. You will also learn what “1 coat” of your particular application is. Hope this makes sense 🤪😃

Pretty bottles! Great combinations! Hope you considered leaving the little feet -especially since it sits level... cute. Interesting how they are so evenly distributed. That's what I call a "keeper." Also, I have seen in an online ceramic supply, 'pump' dispensers for soap and lotion that stretch-fit a small range of opening sizes.
@SarahWaltonPottery3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the compliments and encouragement! I totally agree, it was very interesting how the glaze flowed so evenly!! In the end I decided to grind off the little feet…😜 I’m very interested in the ceramic supply company with the stretch pumps, will you forward their info?? I’d appreciate that very much 😉

@@SarahWaltonPottery Oh, I guess the feet had to go... I'm sure it looks very nice. If I come across the pumps again I will certainly forward that to you. I cannot remember which big online store as I wasn't looking for those at the time -and it has been a while. Hopefully they can be found by doing an online search. I will give it a shot too next time I'm idling online. Cheers!

Did you know that it is actually fine when the bisque is still a bit damp when you glaze it?! I also fully dunk my bisque in water,bc it is possible to move the dust on the pot when you just wipe it. A professor said that water tends to stick to water,of course don’t let it be soaking wet,bud a little moist is good for glazing 👋
