Lesson to be learned here, if you're going to dish something out, be prepared to have some thrown back at you whether it be intentional or not. That's just reality, sadly. @stargirl60245 жыл бұрын
@@wishfulaudios2319 Sorry to Jump in the discussion here when I haven't been a part of it, but I wanted to say this- Even when you know somebody isn't like that, you have trouble letting it go. Normal Moms end lifelong friendships because a former friend said something hurtful about their child. The maternal instinct drives you to protect your child above all else. And this isn't just any normal mom, it's Sue. She can hold a grudge longer than anybody. And when somebody talks shit about her baby, who also has the same disability as her sister and Becky that she fiercely loves and protects, that is the ultimate reason to hold a grudge. Sue just listened to him use the same slur that she probably heard used toward Jean a million times before, and to see it used on her daughter so many years later would have been a hard blow. Because it would have proved to her that that particular cruelty is still not dead. Plus, in Theatricality when Finn used the word "Faggy" toward Kurt and Burt had used other examples of hurtful terms (that being one of them) He'd told Burt Hummel that he would never use that term in reference to Becky Jackson. The fact that he used it in reference to Sue was used not toward her child, but to hurt her, and she knew that. She didn't want her daughter to be used as a scapegoat, because no mother wants that. Sue can be a total piece of work sometimes, absolutely. But using a child to hurt a mother is crossing every line imaginable. There's no going back from that one. Not even for the nice guys like Finn.

@flav26892 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. To a certain extent that's true and easy to understand. We all make mistakes and it's fine since we're just humans - but there is a line there. I mean, calling names is always bad but some slurs are seriously vile - toxic and harmful, stigmatizing. For instance. A lamp being called "f*ggy" - ok, that's mean and nasty, but not venomous. But calling a disabled person or a person with special needs as a r*tarded? That's just horrible. Saying it means that the person actually thinks that way. That the other person is broken/a failure/f*cked up. THAT'S what this is about - this is the core of it all. We need to change this way of thinking in our society. Different people matter too - and we can succeed despite all. I myself have ADD and even though I'm doing just fine (beginning to work on my master thesis this autumn), I struggle with my self-esteem constantly because of the challenges it causes me. And dear lord, if someone would call me that slur... it would hurt like hell. I'm tough and been through a lot so I'd get over it with time but some of us are more on the edge. That kind of language can do a lot of damage. Todays society should know better.

@@flav2689 Except the idea that "retarded" means "fucked up" literally came from the people who decided to start taking offense on behalf of others. Retardation is simply delayed mental development. It's also a musical term. The fact that it isn't used anymore is irrelevant. The term "ADD" isn't used more either, and I doubt you just offended anyone. Also, while ADHD is a class of intellectual disability, I don't think it really fell under the umbrella of how mental retardation was defined in the DSM. So, you're just kind of taking someone else's problems and making them your own. Also, before "retardation," the acceptable legal terms for mentally disabled people were "idiot," "imbecile," and "moron." So, if you've ever used any of those words, you were using a slur. This scene gets me so mad like point 1 Sue: just gonna correct you there is no teen pregnancy in Grease it was a false alarm! Point two: Unique is transgender and should not be called slanders like "she male" or "sexually confused boy in a dress" like that is low even for Sue! 3: Sue has done nothing to help the glee club unless you include not sabotaging them at every chance she got! But on the flip side: you never use the word r****d! Like I HATE that word with a passion! It is so wrong! xx

Sues not innocent either I'm not saying that, she was being a little mean but they were both in the wrong.
@amythomasson40545 жыл бұрын
He didn’t insult Sue, he insulted her baby. I have a baby girl with Down Syndrome and I would eviscerate anyone who mocks her. Actually, as my baby is beloved by everyone she meets, there would be a line of people ready to do damage to anyone who would mock my sweet girl. Sue was out of line, but she didn’t want Unique to be bullied.
@zoestyles51395 жыл бұрын
Amy Thomasson i was about to like ur comment but i completely disagree with the end. sue was being completely transphobic with the purposeful misgendering. and so what if she just ”didn’t want unique to get bullied”? unique can make her own decisions. should we limit the visibility and rights for oppressed groups, incl. disabled folks, with the justification that we’re just looking out for them?? for example, should we not let people of color go outside in a white area because there’s a chance they’ll be targets of racism?? i don’t think that’s my right to forbid them from going out.

I personally think that Sue is trying to protect Unique. Since she stated that they lived in Lima with some close-minded people and still being old-fashion. Ok maybe Lima is accepting gay people, but trans? Or cross gendered musical? Maybe not since Sue stated that. What Sue is trying to say that if Unique play Rizzo it will bring more harm to Unique herself, she/he will be booed and more bullied. Sue is protecting her.
@yourmomisgay13253 жыл бұрын
Sue spent that entire time misgendering and saying transphobic things about unique, in no way was she trying to protect her.
@xc40937 жыл бұрын
Yes, Sue has been through some shit but at the end of the day I don't understand why people like her. In majority of the show, she is absolutely horrible to almost all of the characters. I know it's a comedy, but in scenes like this you can't deny that she's being pretty much transphobic. It's funny how she tears everyone down yet the second somebody says something about it she immediately plays the victim card. I know that what Finn said was wrong but at least he immediately knew that it was wrong and tried to apologize for it. That doesn't excuse his actions but they're both still in the wrong.

@insadmnia3 жыл бұрын
To everyone saying that Sue was worst in this because she was being transphobic, I hope y’all understand that both people can be in the wrong. The only reason I see Finn being considered ‘worst’ (which in this case, there isn’t a more bad person. Both Sue and Finn are being bad people. Stop comparing slurs, all of them are bad-) because this isn’t the first time he’s fucked up by using derogatory terms. I’m glad he’s grown out of his homophobia shit but he still is using derogatory terms. And yes obviously Sue is a horrible person but I haven’t really seen her use slurs except for this scene. Maybe I’m biased because I don’t really like Finn but idk, it just seems like he still hasn’t learned that being uncomfortable or upset isn’t an excuse for saying these terms. Yeah he apologized immediately (unlike the time he described Kurts decorating as ‘faggy’ (I’m gay, please don’t @ me for typing it-) or when he outed Santana in the middle of a busy school hallway) but at this point I don’t think that’s enough anymore. He’s done this one too many times, ya know? Idk if Sue ever apologizes for calling Unique a ‘Shemale’ and all the other transphobic things. If she didn’t, shame on her and the writers. The point is both people are being shitty and I just wanna watch them sing instead of being offensive, alright?? Edit: also I realize that the moment with Santana I mentioned is the same situation. Santana and Finn were both in the wrong. But as an overweight lesbian, I feel that being outed in a homophobic area like their school and town would be worst. But that’s just my opinion, and doesn’t even relate to this video aksjskaks
@bryonmurphy70493 жыл бұрын
seeing will refer to unique as a man and just claim that having her play rizzo as “cross-gendered casting” is infuriating, i’m glad finn spoke up about her identifying as a woman.

While it was rude sue brought up a good point they live in Ohio and unique would've been mercilessly bullied if they went on stage. Also the character hasn't confirmed which gender they are at this point, will even says that it's fine for males to dress in drag for performance so is unique Trans or just fluid with clothes, it wasnt clear at this point.
