He is almost criminally overlooked as an artist by the current generations. This kind of talent needs to be shown to all future generations.

I'm sitting here in 2024 and although I've listened to many of his performances, it's the first time I've heard this one. After all these years and all of his work that I've heard I am still amazed by his guitar virtuosity. No matter how acclaimed he was during his lifetime, it wasn't enough!

Maybe Bill Withers and Glen are entertaining the Almighty with that song at this very moment. I hope there's a corner table waiting for me there as well.

I have always loved Glen but that was really top shelf. The phrasing, feeling, speed and power all tastefully displayed to make that piece.
@DadBradTo5 Жыл бұрын
There are a a lot of guitarist out there that can play "fast", (my former guitar teacher, who won a State Flatpicking Championship, told me that he had students who could play faster than himself), BUT, those that can play with FEELING, PHRASING, and a MASTERY of CHORDS & CHORD INTERVALS, are the rarity! Such was artistry of Mr. Campbell!! (and my former instructor, of whom I wasn't fit to even tune his guitar!!)

I've been listening to Glen Campbell since I was a kid and he was like an old friend, even then, always lifting my spirit. Recently I learned he had been a studio musician and really earned his chops. You wouldn't know how hard he had to work because he made everything look and feel almost effortless. Just natural talent. I am also moved that he is so indescribably moving after his passing, and that is comforting as well in a deeply inspirational way, as his music always seemed to be. Thank you Mrs. Campbell and family! I have so appreciated your uploads! 💝

And didn’t read music !
@thegloobster2 жыл бұрын
@@jamieferentinos3164 Yeah, that was a huge drawback in the studio musician business, people were always bewildered at how he had made it as a studio musician without even knowing how to read sheet music, he'd then proceed to simply ask them to hum the tune they wanted him to play, skeptical, they sometimes need more persuasion but, without a doubt, when they hummed the melody Glen was on it immediately, he must've had ridiculously impressive ear to hand transferring skill, I can only imagine what it'd be like to be mentored by him.

Glen Campbell was a guitar god, Eddie Van halen wanted lessons from him and Prince stated he was the best all time. He could play with any of the rock stars of yesterday, definitely today too even tho we have lousy music,!

Many years back, Glen and George Benson traded guitar solos on a tv show. That was when I learned how good Glen could play. I thought Glen was the better soloist.

Nobody can top Glen Campbell... He played guitar throughout most of his career with no distortion and made it look like child's play. Ask Eddie Van Halen or a plethora of legendary guitarists to match that feat. In addition, he was the greatest guitarist in the Wrecking Crew and the only member of that studio bunch of geniuses who could not read music or needed a "chart" to get it right. Oh, yeah, what a great vocalist and charismatic entertainer Glen was also. Amazing in every way and understated and underrated in every way. RIP, Glen Campbell!
