My dad loved Glenn Campbell, and my dad could sing just like Glenn. My dad sang in his church choir but never had any musical training lessons. I guess it just came to him naturally. Of all things, my dad's career choice was to be a professional firefighter for the city we live in, in Pennsylvania. My dad recently passed on, and hearing Glenn Campbell's voice reminds me of my dad singing to my mom in the kitchen whenever their favorite songs would play on the kitchen radio. Ironically when dad passed away, I found him, laying on his couch, looking so peaceful. Nearby was his radio turned on and playing to his favorite Country Music station. RIP mom and dad, thank you for being with me and your four other sons for 60+ years...

In 2000, I had a room service job at a casino and resort in Michigan. Glen had played there one night, and he had called down and placed an order post-concert. I was the lucky one who got to run the order up. His eldest daughter answered the suite door, and as I entered, I could hear Glen singing a gospel song somehwere. As I was getting ready to leave, Glen stepped out of the master bedroom, still singing. He saw me and gave me a broad smile.and continued singing. Great tipper, too!

Dear Lord, what a talent was Glen, making it all look so effortless, free & soulful. And then, his crystal clear guitar talent, which mesmerised so many class guitarists. He could find spaces to weave his magic, like no other could. How fortunate were we to be blessed to hear his beauty. ❤ Notice all those caught up in the hypnotic gift he cast.

Then our first time together after that letter (I was 800 miles away, in college), he took me to a hangout & put "Gentle on My Mind" on the juke box and asked me to dance!
