This version is a beautiful cover and tribute to Glen Campbell. Really well done. I once heard a live version of John Hartford singing his song and playing banjo, Benny Martin on fiddle, Sam Bush on mandolin, and Buddy Emmons on pedal steel that was an absolutely amazing performance. Hartford was a treasure; a true poet.

For a second, I thought I was listening to an episode of Pop Goes The Country or Country Road TV where the best ever to sing or pick it, and one of my fellow native Arkansan's, the great and incomparable Glen Campbell was nailing it again . Your cover, both the picking and the singing are absolutely outstanding, and second only to Glen himself. Beautifully done...so relaxed and I know the difficulty of this song lyrically...trying to remember the order took me 6 months! True Story for you: When Glenn Campbell died, my wife told me right away when she heard because I am a huge fan of his since I was 5. In my grief, I took my guitar and went to my outside patio and sang/played Gentle On My Mind for some reason. My patio doors were closed and my wife opened the door about a minute after I had finished playing ( I was sitting there totally sad and stunned) and said, " Your Brother is on the phone". We live 5 hours from each other. He asked me what I was doing and I said, " Playing guitar on the patio"...he said, " Gentle on My Mind?"...I responded "Yeah, how did you know?" he said "Uh...I just guessed completely"...I said, " I guess you heard the news?"...He responded" WHAT NEWS?"....he had no idea that Glenn had passed away and he had NEVER heard me play Gentle on My Mind as I had only just learned it. Had he known he would have guessed "Galveston" because THAT was my favorite song of his. I believe Glenn's spirit was telling me that he was okay.

I, like I'm sure every person who had the pleasure to watch and listen to this video, and took the time to express their appreciation of what I will have to agree, is quite possibly one of the best, if not the best covers of this Glen Campbell and John Hartford collaboration. I though Glenn Campbells solo was the greatest I had seen on KZbin. You play it astounidngly well. Sounded so close to Glenn's vocals. You are a great talent.
