Let's not annoint him for sainthood. He really ruined and was toxic for the life of Tanya Tucker who was so much younger. Way younger. Drugs did not help either. Campbell was the adult ---so much OLDER than Tucker and should have known better.

One of my favorite Glen Campbell songs ,along with Wichita lineman. I did a folk song report for my senior class English in 1972. The teacher was a snob and thought Glen's song weren't really folk too much country pop. I proved him wrong Glen was a musical treasure and crossed all genres.

But now I see his talent and the ability to come from poverty to teaching himself guitar and actually having his own show and making a movie with the great John Wayne. That thrilled his dad. Glenn Campbell was not only the most gifted guitar player of our time, but he put in a fabulous show every single time he sang. His voice was soothing and rich and fun. He was always kind to his audiences, and never sought accolades. He was really genuine. He gave a lot back to his parents. Built them a home near their church. Put a real toilet inside. And real mattresses. !! And he had his parents on his show. What a thrill for them!! A true Hollywood star!! Glenn you made us all happy. And you made your family very proud!!

Glen made this song popular in 1969. It went to the top of the charts with its positive message. It came at a time when it seemed the world was falling apart....mid to late 60s and early 70s war in the Mid East and Vietnam and here at home race riots, protest riots - like Kent State at colleges, and cities burning and leaders being killed and shot like John and Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Wallace, others it was a little light shinning in a dark time and it helped. So too was Louis Armstrong back in that time with What a Wonderful World And before that was What the World needs now is Love - Jackie Deshannon A thing called love - Jerry Reed All you need is Love - the Beatles
