Glen Phillips - Thankful live from Pasadena, CA 2-2-2011

Glen Phillips is believed to have played "Thankful" for the first time at an Earth Day benefit concert in Santa Barbara, CA on April 21st, 2002. Shortly thereafter, "Thankful" was recorded in Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, TX as a track for an album produced by Davíd Garza. Although that album was scrapped (eventually released as Tornillo in 2010), Phillips's next album (Winter Pays for Summer) included "Thankful" as the second track when it was released on March 29th, 2005. It was also the first single from the album (Phillips's first single since Toad's Coil in 1997). "Thankful" has remained popular at his solo shows over the last two decades--it continues to be played at about a quarter of Glen Phillips solo shows. It has even been played at about a dozen Toad the Wet Sprocket shows. This particular performance of Phillips singing "Thankful" was recorded at a concert at the Los Angeles Music Academy in Pasadena, CA on February 2nd, 2011.
