Great hike and video Murray..I was in the Glen below the Sisters on Friday 9th March doing some photography (before heading up to Torridon with Tom (Heaton) ) and it was that day when two climbers got stuck overnight on top there and very sadly one died of hyperthermia after a huge rescue effort on friday/saturday...It's great that your videos always show your respect for the hills and great technique and equipment cos a lot of people just underestimate the danger of what they see as "small" hills! The weather that Friday was appalling even down on the military road (high wind/driving rain) and I remember thinking how bad it must be up on the ridges and yet I bumped into quite a few walkers who were struggling due to poor gear. Keep up the great work and if any of the equipment/clothing companies watch they'd be mad not to sponsor/support you.

Thanks Nigel, I always carry my winter kit, usually well into May. Might be spring evrywhre else but winter can still be howling higher up on the mountains. Ne'er cast a clout till May be out... Thanks for watching :) ATB Murray Glencoe Zig Zags and Broad Gully

Sadly the second climber died in hospital after as well. It can lull you into a sense of security when you can see the car in the car park still but you're a long way away still if you get in trouble.
@nigelmorley8092
@nigelmorley8092 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim..that's very sad I had assumed he'd survived ok in hospital. Three climbers died on Ben Nevis four days later as well. I'm a hiker not a climber but I have sailed quite a lot and first lesson in that is always triple check conditions and forecast and I was chatting with a fellow guest in my hotel on friday morning who was a climber and he said conditions for next 24-48 hours were very dangerous..huge winds, heavy rain but also a high avalanche risk and he said he expected a few would get caught out but I know he was referring more to walkers badly equipped rather than experienced climbers like apparently the two Nottingham guys were. Very sad and as you say looking down at the A82 below you must be falsely reassuring.

I love the Zig Zags - must have done it about 8 times last year. I notice you took a bit of an extra scrambly line too! There's a few variations that lift the grade up that are quite nice without getting chossy (probably nicer than the upper parts of the path). I always think I've done it when you get to the top of Gearr Aonach though and then you remember the rest of the uphill and downhill along the ridge ... grrr
