Very fine work Murray. Best view? Perhaps, I wasn't there, but I can think of more than a few of your (classic by now) videos which still beat up anything else I've ever seen. Munros/Corbetts, who cares? I went across Ben More (South Uist) one evening last week and it felt like the top of the world to me. You're dead right about the mountains' best aspect - about halfway up a neighbouring hill gives the grandest perspective.

Yes, Lyon is longer (and equally stunning on a summer's day), but Glen Affric is by far the most comprehensive and authentic glen for scenery in the Highlands - anmd even more so in May when there is snow on the hills and blue in the sky. Because it not only has the pine forests, but it has the scale, lochs and distant mountains which give the trees context. Kudos to the individuals in the Forestry Commission who slowly but quietly worked away over the last 60 years to protect the granny pines and manage the regeneration. Affric is worthy of true National Park status (in the American sense), but I am glad it was overlooked and was left to the local forestry guys to manage, without the distractions of mass tourism and visitor interpretation. Sometimes I think it wasn't overlooked, but it was intentionally left as just a 'Forest Reserve', either way it was the right decision.
@ChristophersMum5 жыл бұрын
McNab Yes grannies need protecting.....trees or otherwise.....I do hope they continue to enlarge this forest.....future generations need to be able to see the wonder of these old Scots Pines....

As an Englishman I'm so f-ing envious and covetous of the the Scots for having the best landscape in Britain (and perhaps the world). The nearest England gets to the wild barren beuaty of Scotland is the top end of the Peak District around Bleaklow, Kinderscout and Saddleworth Moor. The Lake District is nice, but too pretty and feminine a landscape (like the Cotswolds with lakes and small mountains added).

Some of the compositions you have taken are breathtaking and a bit like Colin Prior’s take on Scotland. Your drone footage is also beautiful, although I don’t know much about drones.
