I just picked one up since my personal favourite Mac 12 Sherry Oak is $149 and is quite rare @ the LCBO. This one was around $84 in Toronto. As a new subscriber I really enjoy your honest reviews. I will consult your videos before making my next purchase.

Great review! Love this one. One of my favorite 12 year Sherry along with Macallan 12 and Bunnahabhain (Sherry and Bourbon). The Benriach 12 Sherry is also good. The Glendronach 18 is AMAZING. The 2018 bottlings are 22+ years old.

Always enjoy your review. In my NJ market I can get GD for 10 dollars less than Glenfarclas. I think it’s my favorite Sherry influenced whisky to date.

This is a great one. The NCF 43% thing is curious. Compass Box Great King st. blends are the only others I have seen like that. The older whisky thing ended in the 12 in 2013. The 18 ended in 2019. If you see a 18yr 2019 bottle on the shelf for reasonable money it's 24 years old ! We are spoiled in northern California with this 12. It quite often is in Costco for $37 and because of the state liquor laws they have to sell alcohol to everyone. Cheers Jon

I have 5 liters in my whisky room from the Billy Walker era..before Brown Foreman...delicious.. I bought 3 last year..I have 2 Billy Walker era 18s that are incredible...and his 21.. I can still buy the Billy Walker 21s...and I know where 1 more 18 and a few 12s are. I love this 12....from early 2016...as a beginning scotch when I am drinking sherry whiskies.... I am so spoiled finding these dusty old bottles here in Cambodia..$55us/liter...no added tax. Cheers...

@@WhiskyNeighbour Well, I get jealous of most every channel because there have been no new whisky inventory arrive here since 2019. I have a growing collection of dusty beauties. But, because I just started drinking whisky in 2020, I have to watch older reviews to find out about what is available in my shops...Ralfy to the rescue... The best thing for me in 2022 is no price rises and very little competition for inventory. I am going to pick up a Redbreast 12 cast strength and Glencadam 21 in a few days...I have to ride a bus 12 hours round trip...But, at least the country is open. There were no alcohol sales for 6 months last year. I need to stock up.. Cheers.. I look forward to your recycle review and Sunday vids for sure!

I've just started my whisk(e)y journey in the past year. I'm exploring Scotch, Bourbon, Irish and Rye. At this point I would probably say peated Scotches are long my favorites. However, I'm still trying to get "beyond the wall" with my palate. I want to be able to discern and appreciate what different distillers bring to the marketplace.

It just about dried up! I hear it is widely available internationally though, so it's just a local dispute that is keeping it off shelves here. Hopefully that will resolve soon. A great dram!

Well done review and comparison. For me the GF 12 is the a bargain with 28€ for a literbottle. Yet also the GD 12 is a bargain for 30-35€ for 0,7 liters. GD has more interesting fruit and cask influence. I do enjoy the PX-Oloroso combination. GF has more raw spirit power as you said. Cheers from Germany

My favourite Sherry matured scotch right now (close second is the Glenfarclas, on my way to watch that vid). I had this after having had a dram of Woodford and then I had a bit of a eureka moment and ever since I keep finding those tannin/barrel char notes and I love those notes! Great review as always Jon!

This stuff sounds very good. I just tried sherry cask scotch for the first time, Balvenie Doublewood. It's the best scotch I've had so far and so that has me thinking I should dive into the sherry cask scotch world.

Since the distillery is still producing it, I think it will come back. It's just rare right now due to a legal dispute with the distributer. It's actually a favourite of mine. Thanks for dropping in!

Thanks for review Jon....I am currently drinking this now and loving it. I am surprised you didn't slip Macallan in the compare along with the Glenfarclas as these 2 are often put against one another and if you factor in price, Glendronach is the clear winner IMHO.

I saw on Reddit that GD 12 is moving away from being non chill-filtered so I grabbed a NCF bottle today. I may be dabbling in scotch again. It's been a few years but I've had many bottles of Macallan 12 and 18 as a younger lad but their prices have gone through the roof, so I'll ease my way back in with GD12 at US$60 for a bottle. Cheers!

Oh now! I have not heard that, but i would be disappointed if they went in that direction. As you can tell, I enjoy GD12, and I hope you find some of that enjoyment too. A good, full sherried dram IMO. Take Care!

Great review and comparison Jon. Grendronach 12 is one of my favourites. I tend to gravitate towards sherry matured whiskies and the two on your table are both fantastic though I wod choose the Glendronach over the Glenfarclas. Take care young man. Be good. Be safe. Hello Jon, This would be my favorite 12 year old sherried dram. I've been looking for it at least for a year, it's just disappeared from the shelves around me. Recently the guys at my local liquor store told me that there is an active lawsuit involving previous distributor in Alberta, so a new one is not allowed to bring in core range until it is settled. That's why they released Glendronach 2009 10 Year this year to bridge the gap. Just sharing what I've heard ) Great review, as always!

That is a nearly impossible choice for me, which means either one is fantastic. I might give the nod to Bunnahabhain 12. A little less rich fruit, but more complexity and a bit of earthiness or shaved dark chocolate that I just love.

Hi Jon, the first time I'm responding although I have been following your channel for a while already. Very much appreciate your reviews, pleasant, genuine and straightforward take on these whiskies, always a pleasure to watch over the weekend. Only had the Glenfarclas 15 which I found decent, but the GlenDronach 12 seems like a good and rich dram to try (also as a step towards the 15). Any thoughts on how the GD12 compares to the Edradour 12? Greetings from Warsaw (PL)!

Sadly I have not had the Edradour 12, or at least I have not brought a bottle home to really compare. For me, the GD 12 is every bit as good as the GF 15, I might even prefer it as the GF 15 seems to vary a lot for me. If you enjoy ex-sherry matured Scotch, the GD 12 should be on your journey at sometime. Cheers, and thanks again for taking the time to comment!
