I liked Glenn's point that providing noteworthy criminals like Bin Laden with due process has the benefit of showcasing our moral superiority in comparison to the person we're punishing.

A Skeptical Human The question persists are you indeed in a position regardless to assume moral superiority when your taxes have paved the way for the murder of millions of people around the world? Maybe because you're white or a first world citizen you might believe you're morally superior but you certainly aren't. Your country has endangered and massacred the lives of more people than all terrorist organizations combined not that it didn't facilitate their creation in the first place and its about time you refrain from thinking of your society as anything but self adulating and morally bankrupt.

Frum is instructive to listen to because he's not a wing nut. Those people have a tendency to throw reason out the window. The other guy was heading into that when he argued that Obama was afraid of the "national security establishment". That's would meen that he's afraid of his employees.

I feel like Frum does a good job of intellectualizing the every man arguments for our foreign policy. On the other hand Greenwald truly is in a league of his own, and does an excellent job of making of asking thought provoking questions which I think most people do not ask of government or their self for that matter.

What a treat to hear these two brilliant authors and intellects come together and share their insights. Why have I not found this earlier? The first major point they discussed that I would like to engage in is: Greenwald's idea of "justice of the victors." What is currently highlighted in western education curriculum is that the Nuremberg trials were simply a show of "moral theatre" as David Frum indicates. Or they highlighted the allies commitment to uphold processes of western style justice, for which they entered the war to protect in the first place, as Greenwald defends. What Mr. Frum seems to dispute is the need for the victor to stick with a script. Once you have victory, the type of justice chosen is all yours. I seem to believe, the moral decisions made by the victor of war will therefore define them. To make a quick form of justice makes the victor insensitive to others and the losers become unequal in the eye of the law. Thanks to both Greenwald and Frum for making this clear.

David Frum at 11:40 literally admits that he doesn't give a shit about the justice system. I also don't understand why Glenn is taking the time to debate Frum. He should be spending his time on media stations to spread his message.

Frum is like a cold calling real estate sales rep that shows up at your door, and wont go away, no matter how clear the instructions are you give them.......its a technique they use to refuse to acknowledge any argument you present and to confuse and obfuscate the conversation to the point of ridicule.

Did we forget that Bin Laden was a CIA operative during the Russian adventure in Afghanistan and that the larger factions of his family have been associated with the Bush family, in short, his survival was a monumental can of worms. That being said, he still should have had a trial.. We will never know for sure if he was guilty of anything.

kinda hard to arrest someone who is armed and wanted for international crimes dont think the seals woulda just ran up to him with his ak blazing saying stop stop we are arresting you ..... in a fire fight you dont recognize faces you shoot to kill threats and thats all he died due to the fact he was firing on the seals..

Even though I am an avowed leftist, I was very impressed by Frum in this debate. He was respectful and deployed some powerful arguments. We really need more of these types of exchanges between different ideologies.

Frum obviously doesn't know much about how valuable some of those "rocks" are in Afghanistan. He also seems clueless with regard to geo-politics in the region. Afghanistan has no strategic value? It's an assertion of U.S. military power into Eurasia. Zbigniew Brzezinski's 'The Grand Chessboard' is a good place to start. Frum hasn't been paying attention, or perhaps he's just willfully deceptive.
