He literally destroyed Brazil by making a hit piece against a prosecutor fighting corruption. Glen's bullshit undermined an entire investigation giving corrupt judges the power to nullify it, releasing confessed criminals which are now ruling the country. No government employee, contractor, or unelected official should ever be allowed to push information to the public. If an elected official wants to get a message to the citizens of his electoral district, he can write a letter to the editor, make a speech at a prestigious institution of higher learning, host a podcast or appear on a popular podcast. The buck stops with elected officials. As a corollary, all government employees, contractors, and unelected officials should be required to maintain all unclassified government information on a website where any U.S. citizen can easily and quickly access such information. Any U.S. citizen should be able to sue any government employee, contractor, or unelected official who fails to place such information on that website or who places false information on that website.

The popular assumption that people don't think participating in government (voting) has any positive impact on their lives, is the correct thought. Government shouldn't affect our lives, good or bad. Unfortunately, government affects individuals too often and too much. Eliminating all government effects on the individual is impossible and not even desirable. However, it wouldn't hurt to minimize the size and scope of government.

Drugs aren't legal in Portugal, are decriminalized as you say, which in practice it means that nobody is prosecuted for USING drugs, but drug dealing and distribution is still ILLEGAL and prosecuted. And this approach is not a novelty in Europe. Abuse of psychiatric medications by Mental Healthcare..rather than using herbal and naturopathic approach, and Behavior modification... Heart, Diabetes and Blood pressure medications instead of Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle changes.... Why criminalize people ????? : because there's no $$$ in it for Authorities and Government to manipulate.... Ashame, but that's how the world operates.... America is the most warring nation on Earth. • We glorify militarism and war. It's at the very heart of our culture, our values, and our national identity. • The U.S. has killed more people in their homeland-both combatants and, by an order of magnitude more, innocent civilians-than all other nations in the post-WWII era combined. • It was true in 1967 when Martin Luther King said it, and it remains true today: _"The US is the greatest purveyor of violence in the world."_ • No one reading this comment will live to see the day when the US is not at war somewhere on the globe.

Are there more or less democracies in the world since the U.S. became the lone superpower after the end of WWII?

lone superpower? i mean, i guess thats probably largely accurate since the USSR was decimated in ww2 and was never not on the backfoot in terms of industrial development compared to the west... but i think youre confusing the post ww2 era with the 90s post cold war era, as the USSR still maintained a massive sphere of influence throughout the cold war besides that though, just in general its a rather unscrupulous question. how are you determining what a democracy is? it is beyond obvious, (and has essentially been proven regardless of its obviousness) that the US functions as an oligarchy, and that there is virtually no correlation between what average voters actually want and what their "democratically elected" politicians actually do. israel is also obviously not a democracy, and in even starker terms than that of the US (at least not a "liberal democracy", since palestinians and all non jews are literally codified into law as second-class citizens). "democracy" in the west really just means a relatively high standard of living (thanks most chiefly, but not only, to accumulated wealth from third world plunder and quasi slave labor) with the thinnest patina of liberal values to put some lipstick on the pig for the ruling classes that have a personal and emotional interest in believing that their class positions are justified by some kind of merit

@@vibesverily The USSR's 90's era sphere of influence was a hollow sphere. It was mostly bluff. You are wrong to imagine western wealth is maintained by colonial plunder. Western wealth is based on advanced technology, higher education, and more rational and efficient economic systems. The labor and natural resources western nations obtain from third world nations are negligible contributors to western wealth. All that excess labor and unused natural resources are worth nothing to societies that lack the means to develop those resources or usefully employ that labor.

If the mainline protestants can keep the evangelicals in Brazil in check, then Brazil might be the world’s next superpower. Israel better not be stupid and prop up the evangelicals.
