This was one of my mom's favorite songs. She was in hospice and my sister and I bought her a small boom box and cds. We put it near her ear and she loved it. She passed away on Feb. 28 at 96. She loved this music and we were so happy to give her some of her memories!

I love Wil Salden's orchestra but the baritone saxophone solo at 01:11 is awful. Susanne Heitmann Weidinger was the baritone saxophone player with the orchestra and she absolutely nails the solo. Su avión despegó el dia 15 de diciembre, 1944 y la teoria más probable por su desaparencia es que fue por una avería del carburador que era de un tipo que se congelaba muy facilmente en temperaturas muy bajas. Menos mal que su musica sigue viviendo aún para darnos tanto gusto.

I hope all the viewers know that Tuxedo Junction was originally a piece from Erskine Hawkins' repertory, with an outstanding trumpet solo by Dud Bascomb, and much superior to any of the multiple bands who called themselves "Glenn Miller Orchestra" after Glenn's death ! But Erskine Hawkins and his musicians were colored, so the copy did better in the charts than the original... Same Story as Fletcher Henderson and Benny Goodmann, although Benny often paid tribute to Fletcher. This said, there are much better "Miller"'s versions than this one.

I have seen it live and now and I have the same impression: look at their faces: sad, bored, emotionless. Overworked? Underpaid? Bored? Music should be joy and energy! They are technically great but depressing to watch.
