An example of using the method that I learned from Glenn Vilppu to draw a figure from reference. In this demo I draw a UFC fighter starting from gesture, then moving on to add 3-dimentionality, structure, etc.
If you haven't seen Part 1 (an interview with Glenn): • Glenn Vilppu's Figure ...
or
Part 2 (his step-by-step figure drawing method broken down): • Glenn Vilppu's Figure ...
You should check them out before this video.

Nice job on this one. Nice to see someone "from earth" apply his method (he seems to gesture almost perfectly at times lol).

+Rob Levin yea I know what you mean! I like to tell myself that if I keep at it I'll be as good when I'm his age. After 30+ years of practice I better be!! Haha

@@PenandBlade I definitely will, thanks for telling me about it. You are such a great artist and your tutorials are excellent. Trying to learn anatomy can be very sterile but your videos do a good job at making the process fun while still remaining informative.

That ended up looking really good. I wasn't sure how it would end up looking when you started, but the finished sketch is nice (though I think the person in the ref is thinner than the one in the drawing, but it still looks great). I've been thinking about trying to learn more about drawing this new year. I've always drawn, but I have trouble getting poses and/or people to look quite right. Too stiff or awkward or something. I'd been kind'a discouraged for the past few months. So I thought I'd try figuring out some of the basics and how poses are actually started.

I'm having trouble drawing figures when they are just standing still... Also the back view is kinda hard to draw

I get that! I just made a tutorial on how to draw backs on my drawing tutorial channel "Pencil Power!" that might help with the back view.
