How is Tokyo not going to be on fire with the smokey voice that Remi Matsuo has?, she's freakin phenomenal. But not only her, Hiroki and the rest of fantastic support musicians are giving a masterclass on how getting the 70's rock vibes right without rippin off any of the classic bands from that era

If you like that classic, bluesy rock and roll sound from decades back, there's no way you could ever dislike Glim Spanky. They nail that sound perfectly. I actually got my dad into them a bit. He loves ストーリーの先に (Sutōrī no saki ni) - Beyond the Story.

Very nice! Rob Halford (Priest) said Japan was basically the last vestige for Rock.; Japan is keeping good Rock alive. Thing is, they're going into a different sound in it's own way, very original. From Lovebites to Nemophila to Baby Metal; they've added their own spin on Rock. The players are always first call, top notch. We're very lucky the spirit of Rock from the 70"s - 80''s is still alive and well, nonetheless, it has a Japanese accent. 🤘🐺⭐🐈

We rock fans, especially the old farts like me, love what we are seeing from Japan, from all the different levels and genres. I don't like to see groups break up, though it seems rather common, well, except for groups like SCANDAL. Especially when it's for non-music reasons. I really liked Girlfriend, they had a really unique sound. So did Stereopony. But on the whole Japan has kept the flame lit for everyone.

I started listening to rock late 60's , early 70's. This absolutely has the feeling.
@mikeat2637 Жыл бұрын
It surely does. I started in the late 1950's and there are parallels back then also. I will say that Hiroki's guitar work kind of reminds me to the late, great Gary Moore, one of the best ever to play.

One of the most unique vocalist in Japan. This duo is so underrated. Enjoyed your reaction and will be chatting with you soon.

I’ve been on a serious Glim Spanky binge this week, they are SO GOOD. As good as ANY band we grew up with, honestly. Remi is a treasure.

Between Remi's voice and Hiroki's guitar, they have such a legendary sound. They should be much bigger than they are.

They're badass. Great vocals, throw back 70's HEAVY grooves. Drummer is the ah*t!

I have been bingeing them lately. People who complain classic rock is dead need to hear this band. I love my old vinyl but I want to hear new stuff too, and they do it right!

I Love Japan. A band called Glim Spanky delivers Bluesy Gutsy Throw Back Rock with Vocals that remind one of the Greatest of the Great Female Vocalists of All time. The Music and Production is Always On Point. Rock isnt dead its Alive and well and Apparently Residing in Japan.

The covid lockdown forced many bands to adapt their live shows to survive and it seems, from that experience, some ended up being expert performers on stage in terms of mixing and recording. Glim Spanky has some very very powerful live recordings.

Wow, what a voice. Hiroki is amazing, if I close my eyes I get hints of Janis Joplin and Grace Slick. And Remi is amazing on that axe. I don't know why I never listened to them before.

@@RyanMear I think I have my wires crossed Ryan. So Remi is the young lady whom is the lead vocalist and plays guitar and Hiroki is the other guitarist, correct ?

GLIM SPANKY "Walking on Fire". You can try it from this album, the Japanese version contains a CD of a live concert, and that concert was really good.
@martinh8481 Жыл бұрын
I have that one, and both the studio and live CD's are great, but I like the live better. It really captures that small live club feel.
