Pledge floor cleaner... Don't. It will yellow and crack! Polycrylic ages well. Drain any excess by placing them upside down in cups. Allow the medium to set apx 3 minutes _BEFORE_ adding your glitter. These are important steps. Allow 24 hr drying time before capping.

I have heard that the Pledge product doesn't hold up well over time. The glitter ornaments made using the Pledge product tend to yellow and/or crack. So if you want your plastic glitter ornaments to last, use the liquid Minwax Polycrylic. I also went to Walmart and bought ketchup bottles not sure if that’s what they are called that I put my glitter in to pour into the ornaments and I also put a garbage bag on my work surface and it catches any loose glitter and is not all over! The only time that I like static! Lol! If you want to see the bottles I use for my glitter message me and I will share a picture not sure if one can be added here!

I uses the polyacrylic but it was still wet and runny even a week later leaving clear spots. I tried to redo the process for a second layer and it all just ran. What am i doing wrong?

Same thing is happening to me. I put the Polycrylic in the ball, coated it well, let it drip for 2 or 3 min, then poured glitter and dumped excess.. It's been 2 days and it's not dry. I tested it, to see if it was dry, by gently placing my finger on the side and it moved. It's still wet. Have you found a solution yet?

@@mandijones4995 Hey guys! I just made some last night with poly, I let mine sit upside down on an old pill bottle for like 10 min then added the glitter. and shook it around. I just checked on them about 24 hours later and they are all dry. hope this helps. :)

I've heard the floor cleaner cracks over time, unfortunately. The syringe is a great idea. "Your local drug store is happy to give you some for all your medical or crafting needs". 😆

The thing I've found with floor cleaner I have used was the glitter is always loosening. I had glitter everywhere and I shook it out so many times. Also, you don't let the Poly sit a little bit to get tackier before inserting the glitter?

JESSICA BARROZO I always sit my ornaments over a small Dixie cup and let as much polyacrylic run out as possible and let it get a little bit tacky before putting the glitter in.

I did this using the floor wax and chunky glitter to test, and there are some holes...after slowing proper drying time, do you think I could repeat the process to try to fill holes? Thanks for the comparison-I LOVE listening to you craft!!

Actually you need to turn ornaments upside down in the cup longer to drain before adding glitter. I do this no matter what product I use and you will get a great even coverage and won’t have all the excess in bottom of the ornament.

Mix your MP glue with the glitter than put it into the clear ball and leave the top off, it will dry.

Polyacrylic looks sparkly, glitter pieces seem to stick at random. Floor cleaner looks less sparkly as if each glitter piece is glued flat and next to each other. Is that just photo. Deception? I haven’t made any…

We have found that Pledge and other floor polishes did not hold up well for ornaments you want to keep. Is disheartening for anyone who has spent time making these ornaments, whether a child or adult, to have the glitter not stick well, ornaments yellow, etc.

I prefer only using polyurethane and waiting 30 mins before putting in the glitter to ensure all excess poly is drained out and tacky NOT wet, glitter sticks beautiful and you absolutely have to let them dry 48 hours before putting the tops back on or you risk scratching the glitter off with those crazy little prongs
