The low cadence work will have been to build strength in the legs (i.e. to be able to accelerate faster), it's a common training technique in triathletes who don't have enough time to be on their bikes for hours on end. Just because they're training like that doesn't mean they'll race like it, if you don't change the physiological stress on your body then it'll adapt and you'll stop progressing, reducing the benefits of said training.

To be a complete creep I could only say if anything they need to be longer. I hope you've got some good classics stuff coming up, I can feel the stirring in my loins as late February approaches. Some more indoor training videos would be nice as well. Keep up the good work chaps.

Yet again a great video being used as a battering ram ! Low carb for a pro cyclist is higher than a normal person and the low carb day was probably after a carb loaded dinner! Also pros train the body into a depleted state so it learns to push that bit further, the one that can go the deepest is normally the winner! Each to their own as the saying goes! Great stuff GCN keep them coming! ( this channel should get a TV slot!)🚴🚵

Interesting to know they were going low carb / low cadence on this particular day. Since the on-bike objective was a full has climb, one would think they would need to be carbed up and max cadence. Naturally, speculation that physiological data for ketosis under exertion plays a role in this day's training, with weight loss an added benefit.

A lot of people misinterpreting the low carb thing, it's about training the body to efficient when low on fuel, the lower cadence is less aerobic and burns less fuel in the form of long and short chain carbs and more fuel in the form of slower burning fats and proteins so that you can burn all fuel sources efficiently, it also teaches your body to be efficient at the variety of cadences you'll have to encounter in a grand tour as they simply don't have the gear spread to spin 90 - 100 everywhere having big jumps in gear ratios when racing in a pack is a nightmare just ask anyone road racing with 1x setups,. This also teaches you how to suffer. so that when you race and have plenty of fuel available you are quite literally full of beans, energetic, and strong and able to push yourself harder cos your body and mind has learnt to dig deeper and burn whatever fuel is available as efficiently as possible . Train low, Race high. Pro racing puts a whole different level of stresses on the body compared to domestic style, a time trial during the week and a crit or a road race at the weekend does which is still probably more than most of people commenting on here are doing. PS yes I don't eat animal products as I know enough about nutrition to know I don't need to but I couldn't give rat's ass what other people eat as it's entirely up to others what they do with their bodies. All I'll say is watch The Road to Hell film and look at what they're eating pre-race and compare that to what today's pro riders are eating, it ain't more meat and less carbs that's for sure. Maybe ask Eddy Merckx how much quinoa, lentils beans, peas and nuts he used to eat as recovery food then ask how much of those the British Olympic and Sky team now eat and do a comparison.

Why do the team cars of a british cycling team on training camp in Mallorca have german number plates ?
@sgirwan
@sgirwan 9 жыл бұрын
+Its me, Cause most of the Ford cars that are to be sold on the European market are made in Germany. As for the fact that Sky just switched their car sponsor my guess is that these brand new cars came straight from the German Ford shelves, hence the German numberplates. Also, this fleet of Fords will probably never leave the mainland as all the classics and grand tours are held there, so no need to put on a different numberplate, saves administration hassle ( and German plates might have insurance benefits?? ). The cars will probably be parked and serviced at Sky's service course near Gent in Belgium.

LMAO at all the low carb comments. They don't go low carb all day, only before & during the ride up to a point where they'll start taking on carbs and have them in their post ride meal. So yes, they will eat potatoes & rice. It's called nutrient timing. They are trying to get their bodies to burn fat for fuel during the low carb rides.
@YannickLB
@YannickLB 5 жыл бұрын
You burn more muscle without carbs.. So that makes no sense. Also, leaving out carbs won't make you burn more fat.. You need to eat less kcals to burn more fat. Kcals is the measurement for all macro's (kh, fat, prot) combined. So if you have 1000 kcals of carb, you burn the same amount of fat as to having 1000 kcals of fat (food), or even 1000 kcals of protein. Only difference is that protein is a horrible energy source since it's not directly converted to glyocen. Carbs are basically glycon, so that why it works faster. Fat has to convert first. But at the end of the day, the total amount of kcals depends how much you gain or burn off of your own body.

Team Sky are soooooo professional. In every sense of the word. The racing, the PR, the preparation, every detail in their outfit, everything. Very polished. Very sanitized. Very not likeable. Where is the sense of adventure? the personality? I see executives on wheels.

Low carb, low cadence. Surely they are trolling Harley. Or as someone else mentioned they could be using reverse psychology to get the opposition onto low-carb. On another note, I would watch all the product placement in the world so that they can then produce content like this. Great stuff guys.

You may think the sun shines out of Harley's arsehole but I can assure you the pros are laughing at that wanker.

+Free man please read some comments before you make stupid comments!! the training GCN was following was low carb training, there were 3 groups of Team SKY riders out that day, all doing different training, but all needing to be fed in the evening!! if you want to be picky maybe GCN shouldn't have shown what the other riders were eating that night?? derp
