Only if it was single speed. I ride the same gear ratio on my all-purpose single-speed (44:17 or 36:14), so i would be very interested finding out how i would do with the gear i am used to. There should be some up- and downhill sections though ;)

Content like this gives the presenters a lot of weight when they talk cycling. I know they're former pros, but seeing them compete in these events really shows us they still have the ability to "walk the walk and talk the talk".

Insane! Not just the riding but the whole video. The production team needs a big shout-out for this level of editing and filming. I can't believe this video's are still free for us. Great video with intense riding and music that was gripping from start to finish. Thoroughly enjoyed that.

Little late to the party ...but The on lap he went all out got him the fastest lap time. I got the impression that as a commercial/invited guest it would be in poor taste to take a podium position, so he held back a little.

Racing on that rubberised surface makes a lot of sense in that style. It's full on, but you wouldn't lose nearly as much skin (especially with sleeves).

Congrats! 4th place for an event you've never done before - awesome! These type of events, and others like the Red Hook crit series, might be a great part of the future of competitive cycling. Perhaps expand this idea to try road cycling races on race car tracks.

@@silentcyclist Fixies are definitely appealing, but only if you live in a relatively flat area. If I ever move back to London then I might get a fixie. They are definitely great for relatively flat cities. But my current area has some very steep hills and I don't think a fixie would be suitable at all. I need gears for those hills.

I still have no bloody clue how you did so much overtaking on the second qualifier. This is such a technical course with virtually no space. The races really seem to be determined by the start. At least I thought so... and then I see you taking sweet lines overtaking like a demon, mate!

I think this go kart track format is perfect for fixed gear racing. It has a great rhythm to it and the onboard felt like watching MotoGP. And you’re not going so fast that crashes would be that bad compared to red hook crit. And James’s bike is awesome. Looks amazing with the belt.
