Would love to see a blindfolded test for feeling bike stiffness. Sure a bike feels stiffer when you're told it is but can you actually tell if you don't know.
@AR-lz2br2 жыл бұрын
If we take into account that every brand company say their new bikes are lighter, stiffer, more compliant, etc, etc...and they will continue saying it endlessly, the answer is one word...MARKETING, which, means... "we want your money as soon as possible"

My friend and I tested the Willier zero Slr and the V3rs.amd kept swapping bikes, the Willier was far more lively but somehow more stable in gusty winds. ( Same wheels). Hopefully the v4 is more reactive for riders of all levels, but please try the Willier!

Blindfolded, one could totally feel the diff between the extremes of a carbon race bike and vintage skinny tubed commuter. I love both, but sure as hell can. Hard to say if it would be as easily perceptible comparing two high end machines tho.
@jeskli112 жыл бұрын
I can deffinetly feel the difference in stiffness between my old Planet X Pro Carbon road bike and my currenct Cube Cross Race C:62 cyclocross bike (which I'm now using also as my primary road bike). The difference between top end road bikes just a generation apart would be far less significant as the previous models are some of the stiffest bikes already, but I guess either heavier riders or pros, who spend 1000 hours a year in the saddle, can feel it (or rather "spot some difference"). But I doubt this stiffness increase can have any effect on a 'normal' 70 kg rider with FTP of around 300 W and max sprints shy of 1300 W.
@markusseppala65472 жыл бұрын
@@jeskli11 I just upgraded to a 10 years newer frame (Scott CR1 2006 to Canyon endurace 2017). I'm sure I will notice the stiffness and comfort difference when I build the bike. I'm not sure I would notice it upgrading from 2017 to 2022 bike, but I could be wrong too. It feels at this point bike industry is designing the tests to give them certain numbers they can advertise.

Wowser what a good looking bike! I'm over 40 so if money 💰 were no object then C68 probably... This Colnago V4RS, with secret wheels and intellectual property rights regarding how they measure frame stiffness... all sounds slightly mysterious and typically adds to the allure of the Colnago brand. Bravo on the marketing Colnago! Appreciate GCN tech get to actually breakdown and help showcase such a beautiful bike. Great video Ollie & Manon! Personally, I don't think you need to be saying if it's quicker than an SL7 or the new Propel etc... genuinely who would it make a difference to? The pros don't get to pick anyway! However, a great follow up would be Ollie joining Pogacar for a day of his pre tour training camp. Manon can motivate like the 4 v1 video! I'm sure it'd be simple to set it up...😩 you could start by reminding UAE that Ollies never been a pro but took down "G" in his dad's garage 😉... therefore, it'll be good company/ test for Tadej during a four hour ride with efforts!!! UAE would have you back on the V4RS in no time. That'll be the proper test of rider and bike! Also, be good to see Ollies nervous face again e.g. pre 50 minute TT attempt or hour effort...

Tadej and each pro on the circuit deserves the latest and greatest cycling tech for their competitions enjoyed by a worldwide audience. And because they are riding big miles throughout the year with lots of gauges to measure their performance, surely there are some who can detect even the slightest improvement here or there, as Tadej indicates in this video. But is every pro like that, are they some who can't really tell one way or the other, they just get on the bike and give it their best?

@robbchastain30362 жыл бұрын
@@ThomasHubik For sure a rider needs to say something good about his or her bike/sponsors, totally support that, I'm just wondering if there are pros who are simply hard on their bikes and can't tell one way or the other, no blame, just their style. And speaking of riders representing bike brands, VeloNews is reporting that Specialized is ending its ambassador program where influencers get paid to ride their bikes in exchange for social media content and adventures. Building them for Hobby riders who weigh in at 80 to 90 Kilos is not easy. Get real.
