So glad Colnago are going to offer a rim brake version. The direct mounts on my C64 are absolutely fabulous - without all the hassle of hydraulics.
@robertorolfo2 жыл бұрын
It's truly sad to think that rim brakes might disappear in the future. One of the great things about cycling and bicycles is their simplicity. I don't want to be dealing with hydraulic fluid when it comes to my bike (just like I don't want to worry that the battery charge on my drivetrain will go flat).
@jwestpro2 жыл бұрын
@@robertorolfo Rim brakes are far superior from a living with them perspective and there's simply no contest in that aspect. You can hang a rim brake bike on the wall for 20 yrs and just go use it after checking tires. You can cram it or the wheels into your car or travel cases and almost never ever worry about screwing up it's function or parts. I LOVE disc brakes on my mtn bikes and gravel but an analogue rim brake road bike is so simple yet just as effective as the disc versions. in MTB that is almost opposite.

I can remember when Nags had a clover leaf shaped cut out in the bottom bracket shell. You had to use one of those plastic tubes to protect the bearings from dirt.
@prestachuck28672 жыл бұрын
BB cutouts were not uncommon on race bikes of the 1960’s, 70’s, and early 80’s. Racers typically spend more time riding in the pouring rain than most other folks, and water fills up the bb, chainstays, and part of the downtube and seatube without the drain hole in the bb. I’ve pulled the crankset from many modern carbon bikes only to have half a bucket of brackish water dump out and onto the shop floor! The cloverleaf shell was just beautiful.
@WillPower462 жыл бұрын
The Ti is isanely awesome but the carbon is meh... another carbon bike. No bicycle is worth this much though as brand new Ducati Panigale costs less and the Trek carbon frames are more advanced. Much more hype here than actual substance.
@prestachuck28672 жыл бұрын
I don’t see the treks as more advanced. The production process of their carbon frames is exactly identical, but the trek is made In Taiwan. No bicycle is worth that much money to YOU, but it is priced appropriately. Just because we cannot afford something does not mean that item is worth less money than the asking price.

There should be no situation where a bicycle costs as much and often times more than a Road Race or Competition based off-road motorcycle . The amount of individually machined parts that go into an engine/suspension parts, plus physics that engineers have to account for to deal with increased forces the chassis encounters require far more engineering than what a bicycle frame will ever have to endure. It’s laughable how out of control the cycling industry has gotten with respects to value for what you get.

Stunning bike, undoubtedly, but seems strange to design a bike for enthusiasts only to price them out, no?
@johntechwriter Жыл бұрын
The kind of enthusiasts Colnago is seeking out is the rich kind. No other qualifications are necessary. As our narrator points out, there are cheaper, faster Colnagos available. But the person who buys this bike wants only one thing: to have the most expensive bike in the parking lot.

I have a CX-1. These may have been the 1st c-series, I am not a Colnago-nut, but I love it. I was an avid amateur racer, and I had a couple of high-end bikes going always. I liked buying and building different stuff (used framesets) to see how they rode. Time, Look, Orbea, Ridley, Scott, Cannondale, etc. etc. I had a couple of Durace grupos to swap on and lottsa carbon tubular wheels, also used, but well-maintained. The CX-1 was a team bike with Nor Cal Z-Team, the only way I could ever have a new Colnago. I think they were the 1st monocoque Colnago, 1st sloping top tube, first integrated headset. When I raced and trained on this for a few weeks, I decided I'd found the perfect bike. Not "fragile", like a lot of race frames. Not a butt-beater like my Ridley Noah or the Time. Not twitchy and scary descending like the Scott and Cannondale... The CX-1 has titanium (I think) in the threaded BB, the headtube, and the seat tube (not proprietary) The geometry is 100% right. Not a hint of wobble at any speed nor twitching on rough stuff. I had 9sp DA for some years, now it's 11sp mech...Rim brakes, of course, and carbon tubulars when it's not winter. I have probably 20k hard miles on this Colnago nów. While I'd enjoy testing some of the newer offerings, I don't think I would find I'd want to "upgrade". The only thing that puts me off about riding the Colnago is the fact that they're considered as "snobby dillitante. richy rich" bikes...and the prices mentioned for this new C-68 seem to support "rich"..at least

Beauty but for me is the very definition of a purchase choice by the heart, rather than the head

I can't imagine anyone buying gravel c68 and then riding it trough mud, rocks.... it's like getting Lambo Urus and drive it on non-paved country roads

You don't have to be expensive to be legendary, look at Citroën 2CV, Renault 4CV, or VW Beetle or Combi ! Same applies for bikes, say a Cannondale CAAD12 for instance or a Giant TCR just to name a few. But I gotta admit these bikes are still desirable not because of their price tag but because it's not mass produced, the person doing it probably took time to make it great, it's about passion more than consumerism let's put it this way

I have 3 Colnagos and looking for another one. One thing I was waiting for you to talk about was how did the 68 ride on the road. GOOD SHOW AS ALWAYS GCN.

This Collage C68 is super handsome. However, the Ciöcc bicycle co. in neighboring Bergamo also offers a larger selection of customized colors from road to electric bikes on all price ranges, so Ciöcc offers a better value for a top notch product but it gets its tubes from Taiwan, the owner told me.

Beautiful looking bikes. Unfortunately need to win lottery to get one of these bad boys 😊😊

Unfortunately the same for most of us 😢

I think I only want one because it's the latest Colnago and absurdly expensive. I actually think this MAMIL would look pretty absurd on a bike you could trade for a fairly decent car. BTW I can't find the link to register for the giveaway??😂

Great video! Life long fan of Colnago. I'd think I'll would skip the factory rep delivery bit when getting one.

Nahh, if you can afford one then you have to go the whole way. Custom delivery would be the icing on a very nice cake.

No lugs and making NFTs. It is a sad day for Colnago fans.

Really? As a long time Colnago owner of various Cs and steel bikes (not to mention a multitude of vintage Colnago memorabilia) I'll be buying one of these frames ASAP. I'm very happy with this announcement.
