Thanks for these wonderful stories and history Trey! I love learning about Uncle E !! That's what I've called Elvis for a long time bc he is like my uncle I never knew but I learned so much from him that has helped me through the years like ladies, music and most of all he taught me how great Jesus is!!!

That's really cool Trey. I'd like to have been able to go see that in person, but at least I got to see it on your video. I have been to the Ryman twice before they started remodeling and repairing it. I got to stand on the original stage where Elvis and so many others great entertainers stood. The first time I went, I went with my Uncle and his wife. I was about 16 or 17 years old. We got to go down that slope that's off to the right of the stage then we got to go into the dressing rooms. We got to sign our names on the dressing room wall. There were two dressing rooms that you were allowed to go into back then. The second time I went was on my honeymoon with my husband. That was in Feb. 1989. I couldn't wait to show him where I signed the wall in the dressing room, but darn it...they had painted over everyone's signatures and roped it off so no one could go in the dressing rooms no more. That was disappointing, but it was still so exciting to get to stand up on that stage Trey. It still smelt like old wires and dust and I loved it. 😊❤ I could just picture all the famous people that sung there, especially Elvis Presley. Thank you Trey for sharing this video with us. I'm glad someone finally did that, even though they did turn the most famous star in the world away. It still happened and it's still apart of Elvis' history. 👍😉🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️

I could very well be wrong, but I believe that's Ranger Doug from The Riders in the Sky doing the narration in the background. Ranger Doug did 2 stints with Bill Monroe in the late 1960s.

Jim Hamill was a gospel singer I knew & his dad was Elvis’ mom’s Pastor at the Assembly of God church & he was part of a group I believe they may have been called the statesmen back then but later became the Kingsmen from Asheville NC he always told he was the one that told Elvis he was the one that told Elvis he needed to stick with truck driving cuz he couldn’t sing harmony. His story was Elvis would come listen to them at the conventions under the tents when they were in Memphis & he wanted to try out for the lead position after high school & Jim told him he needed to stick w truck driving cuz he could t sing harmony & that was a must with quartet style singing. Jim always joked that was his biggest career mistake.

Sam Phillips didn't invent Rock n Roll. Bill Haley was doing it in the early 50's. And Texan guitarist Goree Carter (pre Chuck Berry) had the 1st true Rock n Roll record in 1949 called Rock Awhile.
