I'm not sure if you know this but the 1999 anime covers hunter x Hunter only to the phantom troupe arc and to some parts of greed island in some Ovas. So not every character will have what you're getting into and tbh the design in the 1999 anime isn't much different from the 2011 anime except for a few minor changes and some characters

My biggest bummer about this game is the small roster, for a 3v3 16 is way too low. Assuming the roster Globku has there’s so many missing characters: Illumi, Nobunaga, Shizuku, Youpi, Razor, Zeno, Silva, Zazan, Hanzo, Knuckle, Shoot, Palm, Canary, Gotoh, Bonolenov, Kalluto, Phinks, Kastro etc Yes there’s dlc but still.. guess I should be happy that I got Morel, Bomber and Machi, but I really wanted Illumi man 😭

@@GeckoMoriia Not them, but the answer is both for me. I genuinely think it looks fun, and it's a type of fighting game I really enjoy in team vs with assists. By a developer with some crazy hits, so I'm excited off that alone. But it also looks like fun to play, and we've only got more to see as they develop. But I'd be lying if I said it being HxH didn't make me more excited. Not just because I love Hunter x Hunter, I do, but because it's just great to see something get the FighterZ treatment generally. My cousin is also a huge Hunter x Hunter fan, and I've thought she'd enjoy fighting games but hasn't had a game that properly interests her until now. So that absolutely impacts my excitement, but I do also think it'll be a fun game. Ultimately? It's the kind of anime game I want to see more of. So it's a win-win

I agree entirely with Damascus on 1-button specials. It's not to say we should put pretzels everywhere or make inputs SF1-level strict but specials are "special" and should be earned. People who want to play will learn, and people for who it's too much work aren't the audience. Anime fans trying FighterZ who weren't fgc-adjacent surely all learned which camp they fell in quick, and I wish that was the philosophy for HxH. Also GBVS is great. Doing specials is fun so I do them whether it's optimal or not. To me, 1-button specials sound like extra command normals, though I think the game's take is very inclusive and good.

i disagree with the 1 button special thing. while casual will forever be casual yes, fighting games shouldn't be about long infinite combo to do, but about prediction, reaction, counter etc, and while long comboes are needed to build up meter, they shouldn't be artificial harder to do, fighterz had autocomboes but still worked in the end, granblue and especially DNF (same as hunter x hunter) had 1 button special but the player skill is huge, DNF comboes are very difficult to do and you only need a button and an arrow, outside some movement in between combo, same will do HxH and 2XKO. you have to be good at reaction, not destroying your controller ahah

I have been playing fighitng games for about 5 years now. I still can't reliably do quarter circles, and you can forget about DP motions, anything more complex than that?? Nah. One buttons specials mean that when I think I need to use a move, I can, which gets me to the actual fun part of fighting games which is the decision making. It seems to me that people that are against one button specials feel like they take somthing away. From my perspective as a relativly new player, motion inputs don't feel like they add anything. Comparing say... Granblue to Guilty Gear. Guilty Gear just makes it harder to learn characters and have fun. Im not sitting there like "Wow I just did four inputs in a row to get out one special move!!! So rewarding!!!!!"

Air dashes are very slow in this game - I think they want to put more focus on air to airs and aerial specials (like uvogin having a dive kick, Machi having a lariat etc) Plinkdashing is not remotely close to UMVC3's wave dashes - it still doesn't feel "fast" by any means. For the time I spent I felt it was a slower Marvel, which isn't criticism actually, I think it's cool to have a game that wants Marvel's mayhem but a bit slower to maybe end up more readable!
