Magazine capacity seems to be a major issue with many. I was a cop for 20 years. During that time, and in the years since one thing holds true. The vast, overwhelming majority of shootings happen within about 20-25 feet, last about 3 seconds, and fewer than five rounds are fired. The ability to put rounds center mass, under stress, from different positions and grips determines survivability more than the capacity of your EDC handgun. Jeff Cooper swore by the .45 1911 and its 7 rounds. I'm not trying to be argumentative. I love the Sig and have carried one. I own a 48. I've carried Gold Cups, High Powers, S&W 19s, and the new M&P line. My point is that training, familiarization, and practice will better enable you to function under stress and get those first two or three rounds where they need to be. I think that should be the #1 focus. Not mag capacity. Ok...let the hate begin in 3, 2, 1...

I think most would agree you could have a hundred rounds but end up with a hundred misses, shot placement is absolutely necessary but I would also say having the extra rounds on hands never hurt.

Unless Shield Arms can come up with a TRIPLE STACK mag design, a “20-rounder” for the G19 isn’t happening. The 43X is a contender with the Shield Arms 15 rd mag for personal carry. What counts is what fits your hand and points best for you. The Sig P356 and P365XL have a much nicer trigger than the Glock right out of the box; however, there are tradeoffs and for my hand size (Large), the Glock grip pointed straighter at the target more naturally (for me). Buyers should hold and dry fire the prospective pistols side by side, to see how they fit your hand. While you can learn how to shoot anything, there is an advantage to buying the size and shape of gun that fits you best. Shooters with medium or smaller hands generally prefer the smaller grip size of the Sig P365 models.

Both the 365xl and the 48 are tops as far as edc carry guns go, and you can’t go wrong with either one. Having said that, my preference is the 48. But, I’ve been a Glock guy for years, having carried several different models as duty weapons over a 10 year span as an LEO here in Oklahoma. I carry the 48 with the Shield Arms magazines for my edc, and my wife liked mine so much that she bought one as well and carries it routinely. In fact my only complaint on the 48 is that Glock for some dumbassed reason decided to release it with no rail for a light. A petty point I know, but it is what it is. But that’s not enough of an issue for me to dislike the weapon, and it’s still my go to for everyday carry. However, I sure wouldn’t discount anyone for carrying the 365xl, it’s an awesome piece also.

Here's another thought about mindset and who carries. From a military mindset, a G19 is the perfect size for a fight. You serve in the military, you're expecting a fight. You BRING the fight. As a cop, your job is peacekeeping. You react to a fight with as much as you can bear. For a civilian that isn't a cop or a soldier, you are not expect to fight but still understand that the fight can come to you. Your role is to simply live the best life you want but your mindset should not be "fight". For retired servicemen and cops, it's hard to shake the handgun in an EDC capacity that is NOT "about the fight". Is the G19 a good gun for EDC. Yes but how it's design is not for EDC. The G26 is designed for EDC. MANY handguns are "designed" for EDC. Meant to be easier to conceal. Otherwise, you dress to the gun.

It shoots like a dream and if you think I'm going to buy this after market 15 round mag and pay $48 for it, you are insane! This would defeat the whole purpose of me buying this gun in the first place. NO THANKS!

Spend $600 on a gun...but a $48 magazine is ludicrous...?!?! What? Lol. The 15 round mag makes the 48 unbeatable.

My friend bought the Shield mag for her 43X. She’s a lefty and they don’t work if you switch the mag release around to lefty.

I have issues with my shield mags as do other shooters. Suggestions are to swap out the followers for the Glock followers. Haven't tried this as 11 rounds in the 48 is good. Capacity is fine, accuracy and reliability due to properly training is better.

The difference between EDCing a Glock 48 MOS vs a Glock 19 MOS doesn't sound like it'd be much different or noticeable.. but I have carried a Glock 19 with TLR7 and 507c for years, just traded for a Glock 48 MOS with 407k and TLR7sub...and it's a very noticeable difference. And no downside as it's the same capacity with S15 gen 3 mags.

Bought my wife a 43X for mother's day to replace her 43, went with this vs a 365 or Hellcat because I'm a Glock fanboy and the existence of Shield S15 mags. I bought 3 the day I bought the gun and finally got around to testing them out today, 0 issues. It's a game changer, and my wife now has a gun she shoots better than the 43 and carries 9 more rounds in the mag.

I used to carry the P365 XL. However, when Glock came out with the 43X MOS, I felt that that solved a few of the disadvantages of going with the Glock (rail, red dot, etc). Now, when paired with the shield arms mags, the 43X is my favorite!
@ramonfoster12243 жыл бұрын
The 43x isn’t as good as the 48. The longer barrel doesn’t make it any less concealable
@johntoughlove4793 жыл бұрын
@@ramonfoster1224 Depends on where you carry on your person; body type, etc. If you're running a rmr type dot sight radius isn't a thing anymore. So I think it's just personal preference. Having said all that, I chose the 48 mos with a holosun 407k as my slim/summer carry.

The only thing that I can say about the shield arm mags is if you switch out the mag release like they recommend at least on my Glock 48 MOS my Glock mags from factory still fit, but they will not drop freely. Only the shield arms mags will drop freely . I literally have to pull the magazine out of the gun Still functions properly I can dump the mag no problem and everything .The issue is for some reason it’s getting caught. When I press the release, I don’t know why but I have since then just completely switched over to shield mags and I hope thats something that I don’t regret just an FYI I don’t know if anyone has the same issue. If you do, please tell me how or if you resolved it.

Glock needs to step their game up a bit. If Sig and Springfield can fit 10+ rounds in a double stack magazine to insert into a sub-compact, Glock can too. Single stack polymer frame handguns are inferior at this point. For their sub-compacts they need to transition from plastic mags to aluminum, allowing for thinner mag walls to hold higher round count, then also come stock a mag release that is durable for aluminum mags. I understand glocks are the grand daddy of the polymer striker fire pistols, but other companies are presenting better stock features. Glock needs to do away with all of the plastic parts. Sights, guide rod, magazines, mag release, est... Start stocking fiber optic and tritium sight options, extended mag and slide releases, steel guide rod and possibly aluminium magazines. These simple upgrades to stock features shouldn't upset the after market support to customize your very own ford f150. "I have spoken."
@brighthought114 жыл бұрын
exactly they should have the options.. its insane, first off they overcharge for what they do sell, so they could add some simple things like night sights, suppressor sights, fiber optics, optics ready cuts with plates etc, extended mag/slide release and a stipple job probably by laser. flat face trigger options etc..

Rethinking the Shield Arms mag. I usually carry a single spare mag. I started my EDC life carrying 2 and realizing that was "overkill" and not convenient with my clothes and where I work. Then I started to carry a G19 with a spare mag that has a +2 extension on a G17 mag. That makes it 19 rounds in my spare and I don't like grip sleeves anyway. But for a G48 with a spare being basically a slim G19, 15 in the gun and a spare 20 is almost exactly like my G19 EDC but now the gun is slimmer and easier to carry.

Right the XL doesn't need anything. It's nearly a perfect gun. Mine is unbeatable. Magguts improve it but it doesn't really need anything. However my Shield Plus with tritium sights is also unbeatable. My 43X with sights trigger and high capacity mags is also unbeatable. Why should I settle for one phenomenal gun when I can have 3?
