Glock Upgrade: Talon Grip

In this video, I cover the steps for the installation of a Talon grip on a Glock 19 Generation 4 9mm handgun. The specifics on the Talon Grip covered in this video are the rubber texture, Gen 4 model, and no backstrap.

I've tried both kinds. The granulated paper grip has slightly more grip but shreds your tummy while concealed carrying. I switched from the granulated to the rubber. It's almost the same grip. Looks better in my opinion and doesn't shred your belly.

I have Tallon on other guns I own. I started out with the ruff surface one but I realized the rubber is best for most guns I own. Great video you really sell it man.

Just a recommendation. Use rubber gloves when first cleaning with alcohol. It prevents oils and proteins on your hands from getting onto the gun.

Just for your viewers' benefit....I recently ordered 3 grips from Talon. 1 of them didn't it the firearm for which it was intended. I emailed their customer service and in 10 minutes they emailed me back. We exchanged a couple of more emails over the next hour and then they had a replacement grip in the mail and this was at 4:30 on a Friday. 5 stars to their customer service.

Thanks, I appreciate the support. If you purchase 15 round mags to give you +2 round capacity and the +2 Glock grip extension, Talon has a grip for the +2 grip extension as well that you might find helpful.

Joel Hopkins Go with a 19 gen 4, you can't go wrong with 9mm. Cheaper, quicker and easier follow up shots than 40 cal

Really like the granulated grips on my XDM and Shield but decided to try the rubber on my Ruger 57. Big mistake. The rubber is as slippery or possibly worse than the stock surface. Fit and finish are great but they are way too slippery. Going to order some granulated ones for the 57 as replacement. But for the cost, I can't complain.

If you dont have a heat gun get some tin foil shape it like a cone and put it on a stove on the lowest flame now youll have a makeshift heatgun

Great application video! I had the rubber Talon grips on my Glock 19, but I ran into issues at the range. They are awesome when your hands are dry, but spending 2+ hours out in 90 degree heat caused my hands to sweat slightly. I was having to re-adjust the firearm after every shot. Has anyone else had this issue with the rubber grips?

Thanks brother! You're not alone as I have the exact same issue with the grip becoming slippery from perspiration. Aside from using gloves, which I don't use simply because it's not realistic for me, I haven't found any way around it. This issue even applies to factory grips as well. I'd just recommend cleaning it off after use with rubbing alcohol.

The Lonestar Patriot, I ordered the grittier version of the grips just the other day. I am hoping that they don't slip as much if I perspire. My Glock 19 is my ccw, but I am not sure how rough the grip is going to be on my body. Usually I have an undershirt so, again, I am hoping they work out well.

Woooow. I wish I found this video before, I fuckin peeled my whole shit off and it was a fuckin bitch to apply and get on perfectly and I had it on a paper towel so it was sticking to my hands and it touched the paper towel and got like a hundred fuzzies on it and etc, but I just keep going and got it mapped perfectly then gently pressed around then did the several rounds of heating and pressing hard and this was my first time applying a grip to any firearm and it ended up actually looking beautiful and feels great in the handed and smooth all around on my Glock 42. Can't wait to take it to the range tomorrow.

I bought the grids in sandpaper not rubber. Can you remove the grips and replace them with rubber grips later?

Frank King Yes, definitely. There’s very little residue after removal so just wipe it clean with rubbing alcohol.

I have the rubber Talon grip on my Glock 26 Gen 5 but it's slippery. What I did is cut only the back strap and front out so I have the original grip from Glock. Check out a glimpse of my Glock on my channel. It's helping a little better but I don't like the feel of the Glock tiny bumps. I am thinking to order the granulate type and customize it to be added for the back strap and front grip. Good vid!

Talon grips are literally on every handgun I own with the exception of a P226, for example, where I prefer Hogue and I've only had one where a very small area of an edge started to peel. This particular area didn't affect function and it didn't propagate any further into the grip. The key for the best results is in the prep and the application of heat.

So what's the point of these grips if your hands get a Little moist it moves?

Of course, no grip will excel with excess moisture or sweat but I find that these grips provide a substantial improvement with a more tactile feel over factory grips under the same circumstances. This only improves under dry conditions, in my opinion.

It's really more of personal preference but for me personally with concealed carry in the appendix position, I much prefer the rubber grips over the granular to prevent irritation and chafing from the direct gun to body contact. Meanwhile, it might not be an issue if you wear say an undershirt with IWB to provide a layer of protection against that from becoming an issue.

I've had mine for 2 years now. The rubber ones on my 26 and the granular ones on my 17. Neither have given me any problems in the past 2 years.

Nice installation vid but both you and the Talon grip instructions fail to advise that we SHOULD NOT LET LEFT SIDE OF PORTION A AND B TO STICK TO THE GRIP because you will need to tuck the finger groove portion under it when you go around the full grip. Otherwise great vid. Thanks!

I find there to be a substantial difference between the two and the rubber provides a much more tacky feel over any polymer framed factory grip.

Or maybe you never really tried it?You ever actually shot this tape? Theres no way sweaty hands would affect your grip on this talon grip, whether it be the sand grit or rubber one. They both provide a firm solid grip. Equally as grippy with their own unique feel

Talon grips are no good unless you have dry hands. The least moisture you have on your hands, they become usless. A waste of money and time. All you gain is a softer grip. That's it!

I've spend more money trying to get my grip right, than i've spent i holsters. The other thing works for sure is to use the grip as is from factory or hands down, Brooks Agrip. Everything out there is all about marketing.
