Hey, great vid! One thing you can do to further dampen the sound of your keyboard is to get a mat. You can even plop something like an XL-sized Razer mouse mat under it as they're especially thick!

idk why, but out of the box the stabs are very mushy, and my spacebar doesn't come up all the way (i can confirm that it's not the switch or the spacebar). Should I buy new stabs? btw i use cherry mx reds, and hyperx white pudding keycaps.

Hmm, switch and keycaps shouldn't affect the stabs mushiness. I'd suggest taking the stabs out, pulling them apart and giving them a good clean, and then re-applying some dielectric grease or Krytox 205g0. If that doesn't work then some genuine Cherry plate-mount stabs would probably do the trick.

@@PatrickRennie Thanks for the info! I have heard from friends that GMMK stabs aren't the best, so I went ahead and ordered some everglide plate mount stabilizers, and some dielectric grease. Thank you!

Different switches have different sounds and feels on stabs. I had gat browns🤮 and the feel was very mushy and it was very rattly but when I switches to pandas it changed with no mods at all I know you said it’s not the switch but maybe it’s the KIND of switch

that metallic sound when typing sounds not that good. isnt there build in dampening inside the gmmk? i just oredered the exact same board. did u lube the stabs? sounds like the sounds just comming from the spacebar

EDIT: There is about 1mm of foam dampening in the board between the PCB and the back plate. My bad! Nope, no built-in dampening in the GMMK. I have heard that they are planning to make a revision to the board to include USB-C and others, so maybe the one you've ordered will have something like that? This one is from June, so it might be different. Stabs are all lubed and clipped as well, I might need to add a bit more to the spacebar, but I also think that the stabs that come stock from the GMMK aren't the best in the world.

Yep, I lubed them with Permatex dielectric grease. I think one of the best upgrades you could do to this board would upgrade them with better stabs. I would first recommend you try getting the stock ones modded/lubed to see if you can get them to where you want them! One thing to keep in mind though is that this board only supports plate-mounted stabs, so you would need to get something like this: kbdfans.com/products/gateron-lubed-plate-mounted-stabilizers?_pos=2&_sid=d901b7525&_ss=r

Yep, the switch stem, spring, and bottom housing are lubed with Krytox 205g0!

so I was going to buy cherry stabilizers, and it give me the option for 2u, what does that mean and should I get the option in 2u or is there a different option I should use?

Hey! The '2u' is how wide the stabilizer is. 2u is used for keys like shift, backspace, enter, etc. If you're looking for replacements for the GMMK, you need 4x 2u and 1x 6.25u (for the spacebar). Also make sure you get plate mount stabs, as this board doesn't support screw-in. Hope that helps!
