The process of finding what you like is always so interesting. I didn't really even test the feel of too many things when I built my first, just had two pre-builts before it and a TON of YT videos to gauge the sound profile I wanted. It was a tad intimidating, but the biggest hurdle for me is always just sticking with it when something feels like it's taking too long. Ripping off stock caps and switches is soooo booring. Super rewarding process in the end though and been absurdly happy with mine for a year now. I really do want to build a proper split keeb now that I have an Alice layout one. I do recommend protecting your arms and hands with an ergonomic keeb.

I really like this channel, i just thought about modifying my keyboard for the first time after using a "stock" mechanical keyboard for a long time. some keys stopped working, so i thought it was done for, but a friend of mine brought me some switches, and well, they sounded really nice ( the keyboard initially had red switches, the new ones are brown) and it made me buy a whole set to replace them. and then I added some lil rubber rings under the commonly used gaming keys (wasd) for a very smooth feel, while still getting a more pronounced click for actions. its a very little baby step, but i really do like the feel of it now.

I think I might get my own in the Cosmic Mocha color to match with your Coffee Shop keys!

do you know a place where i can buy keyboards bases, no switches or keycaps included. Everywhere i try to search, its always a fully prebuilt keyboard. And not NuPhy, unless you can recommend me a good non-prebuilt keyboard under $60 from NuPh
@SirTropical7767 ай бұрын
I actually was on the fence when it came to building my own keyboard but I actually followed through after watching this video. I went really well but I would not recommend getting the gem80 at this moment because out the box it came with some issues like keys not registering and spacebar double-clicking which were both not solved with a firmware update, apparently this is a common issue. Besides those issues with the gem80 the wuque silent tactile switches work perfectly and I would recommend getting them.

as someone who technically made my first qcustom keyboard : Dont buy linear switches if you have optical man,,, i opened every switch with MY NAILS and used the bottom of the optical with the spring and opened the switches i bought from temu called the bsun dream which sounds amazing imo , ofcourse it sounds a bit worse with the optical bottom but after i Opened every switch and swapped the stuff in it , i put on the keycaps i bought from temu and had to use some of my old switches cause keys from a different language , and then i lubed every switch with baby oil , but i put a bit too much on my q and now its randomly hitting which is fine. And even tho i used 6 hours opening and switching the switches , it was worth it,,, since i had gateron optical blues before and now it sounds amazing on my ac61m , it already had lubed stabilisers but they were kinda rattly so i removed them from the delete , enter and shift but not the spaceqbar ofc ... but i have this problem where some of they keys are kinda bumpy at the top , which is why i lubed them with baby oil, but it didnt remove all of it .....
