I may be a bit of a Glossier super-fan, but I believe their first eyeliners were actually limited edition holiday metallic liquid eyeliners back in 2014! I wish they would bring those back!

Oh my god Natalie, you're absolutely right! I'd completely forgotten about those! Matilda My holy grail for the last 5 years has been Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Liquid Liner (talk about a mouthful lol). It stays put all day through runny eyes (& even sleeping in it after a really long night) & comes in a dark brown color I love. It has a really long felt tip that lets you get a skinny line that can be built up super easily too. I always need to take a qtip in makeup remover & clean up the edge & somehow even though it’s completely set down you can manipulate it to your liking without smudging that stains. It’s just so fantastic & perfect in every way for me that I haven’t strayed often, & when I do I always am disappointed.

Olivia Strouse i agree with you, I think they should’ve done a felt tip option and a brush tip one just like em cosmetics did, it feels more complete in my opinion 🥰

Ugh I JUST placed a Glossier order the other day I can’t believe I missed this. I’m a huge liquid eyeliner fan and I’ve always preferred brush tips because I find felt tips dry out on the very tip of the brush and I have to pull off a tiny bead of dry felt so the pen doesn’t drag and take off pigment. Brush tips are just so much smoother and more consistent for me. My tips for liquid liner, specifically achieving the perfect wing, is to practice, practice, practice. Also, play around with different angles. Some eye shapes look good with a really steep wing while some best suit a straighter wing. And don’t forget, a cotton bud dipped in makeup remover is your best friend.
@matildaonvideo5 жыл бұрын
Always the way - place an order, something new comes out! Thanks for sharing your tips Jayde. Definitely a straighter wing kind of girl here! 🖊 And I love the pointed cotton buds in this video to really tidy up x

Really thorough review, as you always do! I’m very interested in Glossier ProTip because I’ve got quite watery eyes and nothing seems to last on me. But on the downside, I’ve become “eyeliner challenged” as I’ve gotten older and have tremors in my hand. My best tip was taught to me by Bobbi Brown’s top educator, Kim Soane: Don’t try to draw a perfect line all at once. Draw little dashes into your lash line first, then go back over it and connect/make it even. Top that with a smudge of matching powder eyeshadow applied with a brush. Voila!

My eye shape is also very tricky. Small hooded a bit almond. I find that no eye makeup is the best eye makeup for me on a daily basis as even the most long lasting products shift on my hooded eyes. But i still love to wear a very smoked out brown or black eye pencil from time to time. I have found that eyeshapes like mine don't do good with harsh lines. So i always recommend pencils as they are more forgiving.😊

For me I've found that gel eyeliner in a pot works best. I use the holika holika gel eyeliner, and it comes with a tiny, very thin brush. Because it's so short, I find it really easy to control and to be able to get up close into the details, but it's also easy to build up into a thicker eyeliner if needed and very forgiving because you can just rub away if you stuff up most of the time. It doesn't flake off, and because I prefer brown eyeliner, it just kind of fades away into my skin when it wears off, so it isn't very noticeable that my make is dying near the end of the day :')
@matildaonvideo5 жыл бұрын

I love La Roche- Posay Respectissime liquid liner and Eyeko’s Eye Do liner. La Roche-Posay has a brush and can be a little harder to control but has such a good only black color. Eyeko is a felt tip and is the easiest liquid liner I have ever applied. For years I was a pencil only girl so I’m still a novice when it comes to application. I wish I was a person who could effortlessly apply liquid eyeliner but I’m not. I hold my breath the entire time haha

I use the NYX Skinny Eye Marker, which has a nice grip so it's easy to control. I'm awful at liner, but a trick I use to get a straight line is put scotch tape where the line should go and use it as a stencil. Weird, I know, but it works, trust me!

My main problem with liquid liner is that it's nearly impossible to find one that isn't black. Black liquid liner looks far too harsh on me unless I apply the most microscopically thin and precise line, and "making the line come out reasonably straight and even, without actually stabbing myself in the eye" is the limit of my ability to apply it. Sort of the reverse of the issue you mentioned about the pencil liner! Hey Glossier: make me a liquid liner pen in the shade Brack (and maybe another one in a deep blackened indigo or burgundy-violet!), and make a true black pencil liner for Matilda, and then everyone will be happy. :)
@matildaonvideo5 жыл бұрын
I agree, I prefer dark shades like brown, khaki or burgundy that aren't as stark as black. I've used a khaki Sephora liquid liner in the past, and more recently bought a bronze Sephora liquid liner inspired by @harrymakesitup, and quite bright fun shades from Fenty Beauty and Armani! 👏 x

I’ll wait on this to see the reviews. I wish it came in a few other colors! For eyeliner now I use an eye pencil or a slanted thin brush and wet it with setting spray then pick up an eyeshadow and paint it on. Easier to control for a wing.

I am no good with liquid liner as well. I already have a few in the hope that with practice, I will master it but so far, I still look like a 3 year old did it. I have accepted that only pencils and powder should go on my eyelids and will not be picking this up. Love your nail polish here!

Thank you! Maybe one day we'll master liquid liner, but thank goodness for pencils in the meantime 😄 x

Hello there👋 I’m super late today Matilda! Agree with others your nail/ Glossier matchy matchy is just gorgeous and looks like a perfect match colour wise... pink perfection! As for the product... am with you all the way... a soft kohl but long wearing pencil works for my hooded eyes every time and I only line from just over halfway to the end...like you I think it’s all about what works for your own skin type eye shape, etc etc. Listen to me talking like I know anything about anything 😂😂😂...learnt everything I know from your vids Matilda! SYNT ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Stacey! Sounds like you know exactly what works for you 👏 I only line the outer two thirds of my eye too to avoid making them look smaller x

I actually used to love liquid liner, I thought it was the modern day solution to the difficulty of getting a good wing. These days however I just don't like using liquid liners at all, I much prefer a potted gel liner or a dark shadow with a brush of my own. I feel like I get much better control this way and my wings wind up snatched every time.

This looks very similar to my MAC Brushstroke liner which I already love and have plenty left of. The Mac one is really good so far and if it continues like this then I'll likely repurchase that one! It's worth trying out if Glossier doesn't ship to your country because I know MAC is pretty easy to find anywhere!

Another great video! I personally don't use liner that often because I rarely use mascara. Glossier should definitely come out with bronzers in the cloud paint formula. And I am always looking for all over lid colors, either they expand the lid star shade range (a nice bronze or gold would be nice) or they come out with new eyeshadows, maybe with matte shadows in a slightly different formula, but same packaging as the lid stars. Hopefully someone from Glossier is reading your comments, ha ha. :D

Let's get Piri into product development folks! 😄👏 I'd absolutely love a cream bronzer tube, and would get far more use out of matte liquid shadows than the current Lidstar shades to be honest. We can dream! x
@pryak65815 жыл бұрын
@@matildaonvideo I wish I could work for them, would be an absolute dream. 😍 I love how Glossier follows a customer's input driven product development strategy, that's the way to go in my opinion. Unfortunately, they still don't ship internationally, as for example to Germany. Getting my hands on Glossier products is a constant struggle! Matilda, keep up the great work! I followed the Florence by Mills incident and I am so glad that you finally got recognized for your work.❤️

M, Your nails! You don’t miss a thing! Your attention to detail is impressive, as always.Your description box alone must have taken you HOURS upon hours! ⏳I appreciate the info, thank you! Since you asked..IF I wear liquid liner, I’ll apply it on top of my pencil liner to further deepen & define my eyes. Or, I apply eye shadow over the liquid liner to help soften the look. Sadly, my aging, deep set eyes can’t pull off an Alexa Chung wing! And, I wear anything but black liner - brown, navy, taupe, or gray are all better choices for me. 😉❌⭕️’s -g

Do you get Olive and June shipped to Australia? Is it via their website?
@matildaonvideo5 жыл бұрын
Olive & June can't ship internationally unfortunately, nail polish is hazardous so can't be sent by air. I was lucky to stock up on their products while I was in the US (and will be getting friends to bring the holiday polishes back to Australia at Christmas time) 😄💅 x

Glossier (and all brands alike) have already gotten me hooked on the "natural" look. I don't even recognize myself in eyeliner anymore. Colorslide is fun, but regular liner is much too serious for me now.

Liquid liner can be a bit severe on some people, so my eye shape and face just suits a really subtle swipe. The description box includes some links to an Aussie blogger whose style I love - I try to do exactly that sort of liner! 🖊 x

This is an interesting launch because for some reason, I'd expected Glossier to start off liquid eyeliners with a felt tip. I've used a Rimmel felt tip pen for years now, but I'm really not a liquid eyeliner person. I'm a complete whiz with a kohl pencil though, so if I have to do a wing, I use a kohl. I guess that's the Indian heritage in me. 😂

Yes I would've loved a felt tip too! Hopefully it might appear in future as an alternative 👍🖊 x

Interestingly enough, my eye doctor told me not to use oil cleanser on my eyes as the oil can go into your tear ducts and irritate your eyes. Not sure the actual composition of milky oil but I know most people use oil cleansers on their eyes (me included) but now I've switched to micellar water
@matildaonvideo5 жыл бұрын
Ahh interesting! Milky Oil doesn't actually have an oily texture at all, but I know what you mean - a lot of people rub their face oil cleansers onto their eyes to remove makeup, but I'd always prefer to do it as a separate step 👍 x
