In a way, its probably his sincerest form of gratitude. He seems passionate about cinema as an artform, as much as he enjoys acting. (from what I can tell) From his perspective, the wealth and fame that came from his movies gave him so many freedoms, but also is what set him on this path. And because he enjoys it so much, he is trying to let other people experience it too, maybe a little too forcibly. (He may be thinking of it from the angle of "How many people can say they got to act in a movie, they could love it as much as I do" and he is repaying them with that offer.) He just has too much of a one track mind. His heart is in the right place though...probably.

Yeah, I didnt feel it the same way in the older games, that the characters have a bit more defined morality, values, things the fight for and care about this time, as opposed to just only threatening each other, saying random things or the storylines being so divergent and vague that its not clear whats actually connected. I really like MK1 for doing what it did. Characters praise each other for their relationships, like Scorpion getting married. Tanya and Mileena saying they care for each other, Smoke and Kitana actually like Johnny's movies, Kenshi and Johnny being good friends, Kitana defending her Mileena from people who criticize her, etc. Its nice to see the characters actually feel like people.

I never thought Kenshi and Johnny would actually have good chemistry with each other either. They go from somewhat disliking each other, to bros and Johnny actually doing something to help someone else. Even seeing Baraka, and Mileena as allies was new and nice. Same thing till mortal Kombat 9 + 10 unfortunately she became a revenant so she was so evil for a while... It was mk11 though that while she still plays the role of a ruthless bitch excellent when brainwashed, it was really bad when they made it seem like is she was originally a ruthless person by default even without the brainwashing

She always had a depth to her character that never was explored by the main story. From mk 2 - Armageddon she wasn't a bloodthirsty crazy chick, she was a failed experiment from shang tsung who wanted to be loved the same way kitana was by others. She found a family in shao khan, baraka and ermac and after shao's death, she decided to become ruler of outworld to keep her dads legacy and maintain the safety of those who didn't see her just as a monster, despite them clearly being the bad guys. Mk9 she was really the stereotype of bloodthirsty chick, and mkx she was going through the same arc as mk 5 6 and armaggedon, but they cut it short to kill her unnecessarily. As someone who liked mileena, seeing her receive the family and recognition she always wanted is heartwarming.

seeing Lui Kang's new era pay dividens is amazing, you can tell he tried to really give everyone a chance to find their own path and own peace. Those who aren't here are those who failed not because of Lui kang but because of their own choices. While DLC/sequal stories will be rough at times I am hopeful to see most of these characters continue to bond. Also which friendships in this where the most unexpected? Honestly for me it was the Mutual redemption arc support between Kenshi and Ashrah.

Yeah, I liked how she stood up to Ermac when Tanya was injured and said she wanted a turn to protect her, then she beat him hard. Especially because Mileena used to just get her ass kicked by everyone, she actually beats someone in defense of another person. That and Kitana even says if anyone tries to dethrone Mileena, that there will be unseen bloodshed. Kitana will lose it if someone tries to betray Mileena too.
