Love the review as always, I wish reviewers would mention how the Rogue FT setup requires 8" more depth, and it being an american made rack means it's an inch or 2 wider then an imported rack. Overall it's pretty amazing how compact the Ares system is and imo that's a huge selling factor. Also rogues rack building system is trash compared to REP, I messaged them asking if I could build a rack without their JCups or safeties and they said sure but they'd still charge me for them wether I wanted them or not. Least with REP you can remove whatever you don't want after you add the rack to your cart.

I am older and mostly lifting for general lifestyle health - I just happen to like well designed equipment. I want a new FT and have been studying ALL of them on the market and one of the key items I'm looking for is the starting weight and the incremental weight. Anything over a 10 lb starting weight is a no for me. Even 10 lb can be heavy for something like a cross cable tricep Y raise. Thanks for including this info! Would love to know how the starting weight and incremental weight compares to the Rogue (maybe you covered this and I just need to go back and rewatch) or any of the other FT.

Can you go into more detail about the attachments REP is planning to offer vs what Rogue has in the workings? REP's Ares 2.0 and Rogue's FM look pretty similar so the determining factor for me is which ecosystem to invest in. If REP put out a smith attachment, a bench that integrates with the weight stacks for leg extensions/curls, and lever arms that connect to the functional trainer that would make the choice very easy imho.

Great review, Gluck! I ordered the Aries 2.0 the minute, and I mean THE minute, the preorders became available on the 1st of May. I had an original ship date of August 30th, which then got pushed back to mid September and now I’m told it will ship in mid November. The reason I was given for the delay in shipment was a quality issue that needed to be resolved; which I was fine with since no one wants to get a bad product out of the gate. What I’ve been a bit frustrated with is reading that many people had already received their Aries 2.0 weeks ago! Okay, my rant aside, I have a question for you, Gluck, or anyone else on this channel. I’m 5’8” and I ordered the 93” six post version and I’ve started to wonder if I’ll have a problem reaching the lat pull down bar??? The other issue is I’d like to get the multi grip pull up bar which sits slightly higher than the 93” post and my ceiling height is 103” so I’m guessing I’d be unable to get my chest or chin above the with that ceiling height. I did see one person that installed the multi grip bar upside down but it looked a bit odd. I already have a stand alone pull-up bar in my gym so it’s not huge issue other than it would be nice to have the multi grip option. Anyone out there care to comment on concern about reaching the lat pulldown bar at 5’8” in height?

They could orient the stacks as small wings too. Only stick out each side 16", would be unused space as room for putting plates on the bar is always needed, and the weight horns would actually be easier to access quickly when exchanging plates. PLUS, it would make the rack clear all the way through except for a low-row crossmember.

I feel like the only issue for me with the Ares 2.0 is that for a half rack version it would feel really limited, the back isn’t open so there’s lifts like seated overhead press that would be restricted, you have to set the trolleys all the way down before setting up the jcups and spotter arms and then take them off if you wanna use the trolleys high up again, and rack storage options for barbells is almost non existent. Personally I’d rather have trolleys stored up high because mid to high pulleys are what adds so much versatility to your rack.

Currently, I am torn between cable systems and more specifically the Rep Adonis and Ares 2.0 (especially after watching your great reviews lol). The main exercise I care about is lat pulldowns, with everything else being very much secondary to my use. My concerns with the Adonis are that I may regret the single pulley and the amount of space it takes up (being in a small room, just over 200 sq ft), whereas with the Ares 2.0 I am concerned it will be a PITA to build/rebuild (especially if moving again) and I will lose space in the back of my rack for storage shelves. Can you make a recommendation for what you would choose in my position? I will go with whatever you recommend lol.

Man I love this channel, fantastic review!! Any chance you've made progress on potentially doing a MAXUM Fitness SX2 review? Would really like to see how that things stack up as it seems like a better deal on paper in a lot of aspects given the price and all the attachments and unique features it includes (smith machine, articulating FT arms, leg press plate, plate-horns on-top of the stack, etc...) over both the Rogue and Rep FT rack systems. Definitely in for a comparison video of as many all-in-one rack systems as possible! Would also be very interested in seeing the new GetRx'd RX3 Tornado Smith Rack or Valor Fitness Pro Smith Machine Functional Trainer (seems like a more affordable Vesta) covered! But those are very new so I know that would probably take more time. Lastly, the GearForFit Freestanding Leg Extension/Curl "Attachment", their Freestanding Belt Squat Machine (I think this is new), and the Keppi Bench 5000 probably round out the list of things I'd really appreciate seeing reviews on right now although I'm sure I'll find more things in time 😁.

If you had a stand alone lat row and low row such as the adonis, do you think that the ares 1.0 as a funtional trainer would offer more benefits to versatility? I was thinking that the wider positioning of the low row might allow you more options as far as cable work goes as it might allow it to pass your bench more easily. Thanks for the Review, Do you know any good rack company that ships to Mexico also?

Im wondering why Titan hasn't jumped into the functional trainer space.

Is it possible to use the incline bench with the j hooks on the inside of the front uprights at all? Just curious if that would give more flexibility with the angles of the bench.

@GlucksGym with the cabling moving from the top to the bottom, are you able to do bench press with spotter arms on the outside uprights? I assume you have to put the pulley in between spotter arm and Jcups to get it to fit?
@GlucksGym26 күн бұрын
Yes. Spotter can go above or below the cables. I show it with dips and rack pulls (high/low)

How wide is the footplate wheel clearance? I have one of the (apparently now discontinued) AB 5000 zero gaps and Im gonna be pretty pissed if it doesnt clear.

If they’ll just make a smith machine bar that can utilize the cable and weight stacks (similar to the Inspire FT2), this setup would be almost perfect. 🙏🏻

Do the cables interfere with the Pegasus when using it on the front uprights?
@mpwoodru26 күн бұрын
How well does the Pegasus integrate on an upright with the off-center cable. Annoying? Feel fine?

Between the Ares and the Rogue FT (standalone), which will take the least depth?

@GlucksGym Great Review! What weight horns are those? They don't look like the Rep PR-5000 weight horns.
@GlucksGym22 күн бұрын
@@JohnnyNine those are Rogue's Monster horns. The twin horns change plate horns are from Sorinex
@JohnnyNine22 күн бұрын
@@GlucksGym Thank you, I'll look into those.
@JohnnyNine19 күн бұрын
@@GlucksGymDoes the cable system rub your Sorinex twin horns? It looks really close in the video. Sorinex also sells a version with a spacer and I'm wondering if that would be a better choice.

@@JohnnyNine with the change plates in using, no. Anything bigger would though

Do you have a measurements of how wide the bench wheels have to be to dock with the foot bench?
@matthewkelberg487622 күн бұрын
REP told me you could do 45 degree incline bench with the Ares 2.0. Is this not correct in your experience?
@GlucksGym21 күн бұрын
@@matthewkelberg4876 on my 16" rear depth rack the only bench I got 45 degrees with was Prime's Shorty bench and even that was pushing it.

If you’re just starting out, would you recommend the 2.0 or the 1.0 considering the deep discount
@GlucksGym25 күн бұрын
The 2.0 is the more refined option if you can swing it. That 1.0 discount is nice though.
