You could've likely used the same installation tool for the harmonic balancer and used the part you used to tap in the seal - that would have installed it straight and ensured that it was fully seated.

I would be scared to hit the condenser of the A/C I probably would put foam or something to cover it. And can you freeze the seal? you know to shrink the seal a little bit?

You won't hit the condenser if you are careful while loosening the harmonic balancer with the impact gun. As you mentioned you can always take an extra step and protect. In regards to shrinking the seal, front Main seal! You should know not have to shrink anything,the dealer sells both size seals. I would recommend purchasing both and using the one that matches your old one. Just in case your motor was swapped at some point before you got the vehicle. Using the vin# of the car to get the correct front main seal from the GM dealership will guarantee you get the correct size seal, that's is if you are 100% sure that the engine was never swapped/replaced.

Would that tool to reinstall the balancer be if any use to pressing the seal in as well?

The best way to press the seal back on is to use a socket the size of the seal, i believe i used a 32mm socket, i lubed it with oil, lined it up and lightly tapped on it until it pop in all the way into the timing cover.

@@jcturbotech5136 Thanks for the reply. I'm curious if I could pick your brain just for a second. As I am currently in a bit of a jam. I just replaced radiator on a 2002 trailblazer, and afterwards i took it to a shop because I was concerned about vibration. They now say they believe the timing is off. It's throwing code p0014. Is there anything I could have done to misalign timing? I had a pretty hard time getting the fan clutch nut loose and tightened. But that's all I can think of. It's my mother in law's trailblazer, she says she doesn't remember the vibration prior to me working on it. I was just trying to save her some money on a few repairs but I hope I didn't actually end up costing her an expensive repair. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've been looking all over for answers as well.

I bought a fly wheel tool from O'Reilly s auto parts, it locks the flywheel in place so that it can be torqued.

I cant remember which seal I ended up using, I purchased both of them to ensure I got the correct one. I matched it up once I had the seal out. Sometimes some of these SUVs do not have the original engine in them so that's why its important to have both seals to ensure you are putting the correct one in. The vin# of the vehicle may not match the engine if it's been swapped at some point with a junk yard engine

The Off-Road Diver you can make a tool out of a 5/8 threaded rod about 6 inches long with a bolt and a few washers.

You have a special tool to press your HARMONIC BALANCER in! why don't you use it to press in your seal?
