Brother thanks for the bolt on the flywheel trick!!! I ended up using a short 16mm impact socket and didnt even need to use a jack to hold it in place. It was short enough that it just stayed in place vs a longer deep sock that can wiggle. I was able to torque the balancsr bolt, those 180 degrees was wild! Hahaha, thanks again bro 🤙

When I'm installing the harmonic balancer how do I know it's all the way on? Will it just not go any further or what? I suppose I should have measured the gap between the balancer and the timing cover before I pulled it off but I didn't do that.

@@KevinNadeau Great Videos, so helpful. Im confused about the socket. Does the socket go on a nut in the flywheel? or does the socket just keep the flywheel from moving? I have the same problem with my 2006 trailblazer. I am seriously considering cutting an access hole in the oil pan. I could tap and drill four small holes and bolt a small cover plate over it.
@KevinNadeau

Michael Van Vleet Someone else suggested pouring about 2-3 quarts of parts cleaner into the oil pan to try and dissolve any gunk on the pickup tube screen. Let us know how you make out with it.

If I tried that, would the oil pan drain completely through the drain plug? Also, how close do you think the pick up tube is to the bottom of the drain pan?

Not all of the oil would drain out if the car was on a flat surface. You would need to raise the rear of the car to get most of it out of the pan.
@michaelvanvleet998
@michaelvanvleet998 6 жыл бұрын
I plan to try that in the next week or so. Just concerned about getting too much cleaner in the oil pan. I do not want it to get up to my main bearings and I must be able to drain it all out, You might want to consider posting your videos to trailvoy.com. It is a great resource to trailblazer and envoy owners, yet there are no video solutions to what we are experiencing. I will let you know how it goes when I give it a try. Thanks for the videos!
