Interesting point about disabling STFT. I was out doing MAF tuning pulls and making adjustments and found I was always lean. It seems like the PCM was countering my attempts to richen the table. I'll have to try again tomorrow with STFT disabled. I bought the histograms even thought they aren't that hard to set up once you do it a couple times. Thanks for the videos.

Follow up for those performing MAF tuning: Before this video came out I was trying to tune the MAF table by disabling everything described in the old Gen3 MAF tuning video. I was still lean after 12 iterations and by then the engine didn't run well. Today, with all the same things disabled PLUS STFT disabled as described in this video, I got a near perfect MAF table in 4 iterations. I have a P59 with flex fuel PCM.

An easy way to figure PE EQ ratio: Stoich Lambda divided by desired Lambda. 1÷.85 is 1.176 Stoich Gasoline AFR divided by desired AFR. 14.7÷12.7 is 1.176. You can also calculate AFR/Lambda by dividing Stoich by the EQ ratio.

What's the advantages of going to the LS7 MAF over the stock one in the Gen 3. The motor that's going in the truck is a Summit Racing 450hp 5.3. The intake is a Fast LSXRT with the Nick Williams 103mm throttle body. The air cleaner is one of the Volant air systems.
@mdoe83 жыл бұрын
The ls3/7 MAF is a card style and can be slid into any intake system. With this, you can use larger piping, which allows more airflow for a given measurement. Aka the MAF is able to “support” more power without being maxed out. You likely won’t see much benefit doing this with your setup.

The issue I'm running into is when I press the throttle it drops all the timing and gets to stall out. I saved the log if you want to take a look at it. I've watched through this video quite a few times, and have everything set up like it should be. I've taken quite a few data logs and then made adjustments the way that you suggest, using the multiply by %1/2 function, but I can't seem to get it to improve. Currently, my truck shows that it's very lean, and no matter what I change, or how many times I redo that process, it doesn't seem to improve. If you have any thoughts on it, help would be much appreciated. I'm using an Innovate LC2, a Bosch wideband, and HPTuners (obviously lol).

@@GoatRopeGarage Great advice definitely what I'm doing I have spent almost six months trying to find a tuner I built a Whipple charged gen-6 454 in a 98 K 2500. Couldn't find anybody to tune it so got a hold of a guy they gave me a spreadsheet for the 0411 swap. It came with a base tune that pretty much got it to start so I can get fluids topped off and get it loaded on a trailer. I finally found a guy that was willing to tune it I'm not really connected to all this social media accounts and I paid $750 to get the truck tuned because I wanted it right and it won't even stay running at idle. I wanted to learn it anyways but I just bought hptuners and I'm spending all kinds of time learning why things work the way they work and how you tune a little bit at a time make sure everything works and that it's accurate. That way I understand why I'm doing what I'm doing as well as using my knowledge on how the motor works and what needs adjusting. I watched your video on how to select a tuner and anybody else that is going to get their vehicle tuned watch that video it will save you a ton of time and money and frustration.
