Great job explaining. However, it would be more effective if the cars were shown far less and the actual engine more. Showing a bunch of Corvettes and Cameros doesn't illustrate the engine layout or help people to see the key physical differences in the engines

they are going to going to push electric till they suddenly realized they cant actually make enough, and the grid fails due to the strain it wasn't designed for... aaaaand the whole thing crashes leaving us in a bloody ruin and in the stone age

The trucks haven't used a power steering pump since 2013, unless it was a 2500, and then they still use the GEN IV 6.0. So the gen V has never had a p/s pump from the factory.

I do love my LS7. And I'd love to see a version of it in the new C8 in the Z06 option. But, Taj Jucheter in an interview said with all the new regulations, the displacement was just too big. And the N/A power gain wasn't enough. Which is why the C7Z is an updated CZR6. Rumors are the C8Z may have a flat plane crank with QOHC config. It'd be very interesting to see how they package it.

@@Dustrunnersauto Well...They changed the entire form factor. In the past, I would doubt it very much. But, now, with an Engineer and fellow gear (petrol) heads running the place, who knows. It'll sure be interesting to see what's next for the C8Z...rumors abound. will they Voodoo it? Sure will be interesting to see.

I love my 5.3 l83 in my silverado, custom tune intake and exhaust alone made a huge difference. Add full e85 tune and its like a diffrent truck

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that GM didn't put active or dynamic fuel management/displacement on demand (AFM/DFM/DOD) in the 6.6L L8T? Also no start/stop crap either. Not having these systems is a good thing BTW.

*and if you thinking about swapping an LT GEN V to an LS then you better think twice. LT Gen 5 is way more powerful than LS, basically Gen 5 LT is an upgrade from Gen 4 LS. The only reason LS is all hype is because its cheap and old school. LT gen 5 are new and higher tier so it's more expensive to build and Tune.*

Bigger trucks use the hydraulic power steering pump, half tons do not on LT motors. My 14 high country has no power steering pump, for example.

I have one in my 92 camaro and has been a learning curve. I've waiting to replace the dod/afm cam. Also a return style fuel system running around 75 psi works just fine.

@@J2A61 hmmm I'm trying to picture what that looks like, do you just T off the feed line with the down leg going go the DI inlet, and the straight leg continuing on to the return regulator ( since stock its a dead headed system?) I have a -8AN like she 4 pumps in my tank under boost I can easily reach that PSI which I guess would give me a leg up.. It flows thru my rails on driver side crosses over go passenger side out the rail to the regulator, I have a transducer on the regulator that gives the ecu a signal for fueling and shut down safeties ect...logging.... I dont have a gen 5 in front of me to look at but it just appears there is an inlet on back of engine to DI pump? Thanks, I just keep seeing how much the gains are I mean people are taking l86 with lti manifold and small VVT cam/headers and doing over 600hp, that's a lot of difference in power with a much less radical setup...and more torque

All that R&D into the GIDI, and the injectors go out like crazy and you don't know which one to order when they go out without taking it out the head. Multiple different part numbers

Yea. I'm a tech at a GM dealer. Replaced a lot of them. Not all are the same, some they know the part #s but a lot we don't know until we remove the and get the # on the side of the injector.

When i hear 5.3 i hear lifter failure , sadly it happened to many of my friends , my vortec 6.0 , 4.8 are still going strong but my friends with the LTs are having alot of problems because of those damn lifters

LT1 engines have a cast iron block while the LS1 engines have an aluminum block. LS1 engines are lighter than LT1 engines. LS1 engines have better heat dissipation than LT1 engines. LS1 engines produce more power than LT1 engines. LS1 engines are distributorless system while LT1 engines are not
