@_PatrickO
@_PatrickO 15 сағат бұрын
@@CasperChicago It not legacy vs newer. Legacy generally has a chance to not be ruined yet. Look at menards, same owner since 1950s and private. When he dies it will go public and be pieced apart or sold off to home depot or lowes who will close the stores to eliminate competition. Or any other crooked thing you can imagine. I've see first hand how execs will run a company into the ground when an outside exec is brought in after a founder retires. Only the board members and the CEO won. They managed to sell it after nearly a decade which got them all huge bonuses in the millions. Running a company you can sell into the ground is extremely lucrative. An intermediate ceo got 10s of millions for a few month of being ceo during the sale. All during wage and hiring freezes. These CEOs should not own stock, it completely disconnects them from the company itself and allows all kinds of crooked stuff to happen that wouldn't make sense unless the CEO was manipulating the company to self enrich off the stock.

I have new found appreciation for the management of Honda. When the financing gets tight and people are not able to afford new cars, go down market and introduce lower trims and cheaper cars or cheaper financing. That is brilliant strategy unlike Carlos from Stellantis, hoping for big spenders to buy his inflated priced crap or screw their partners and try to steal from them. Also pushing out Jack from Toyota for poor performance when the prices of Toyota cars are so high is not going to solve the problem. Introduce cheaper cars and keep the metal moving like Honda.

Is Telsa off of their rocker? The Model 3 in Canada is $54995 plus $2000 transport. I test drove one last year. There is too much competition now, I figure they needed to drop the price by $5K to 10 K not raise it by $9k. That model is stale, it's looked the same for 8 years now. They are always playing games with prices. Plus, they started importing their vehicles from China - NO THANKS. But they probably stopped that recently since the Gov't slapped those 100% tariffs.

How come Hyundai/Kia has been able to make safe clean stylish affordable reliable profitable EVs but US legacy automakers can't? Maybe GM and Ford should focus less on stock buybacks, dividends and executive bonuses and reinvest profits for their future existence. EVs have 30% fewer parts, need less labor, therefore faster production rate as well. No reason they can't be more profitable than ICE cars, especially with battery tech getting better and cheaper every year.

There are two reasons why Tesla increases prices: A) Input costs have risen significantly or Currencies have changed and are harming profitability. B) Temper demand which is beyond manufacturing capabilities. Now B would be logical if they see a significant change to assembly lines in the US due to process changes (unboxed?!?) For A, a variant would simply be to align currencies. As a Canadian, I can tell you that many items I was considering just 6 months ago are being put on ice until the Canadian dollars regains some sort of rational value.
