It is not winning the rook, because of Qd8 and then Kc8, but it still wins a pawn. She just wanted to.shot her daughter that she had made the right play and didn't calculate the line because of emotions.

@@user-ke1gn3ql1gthe opponents rating is >900 so they’re not thinking that optimally, oftentimes It is winning the rook, because black has either Qd8 or Qe8 (oftentimes they will move Qe8 to contest white from moving Qe6) and then white moves queen to take pawn on h7 putting the king into check. Black has to move king to either of two spots, KC8 or KD8 (KC8 is better) to escape check and then white queen takes the rook on d3. But if we go with that plan you said above.. let’s say black saw through everything, black is in an extremely rough spot here no matter what, white is infinitely stronger right now after those two variations. Go ahead and set this up on your board so you can visualize it yourself, black is fucked here. If I remember correctly Anna lost this game, it was such a long time ago now it’s hard for me to remember, but this was the turning point in the match where she could have stepped on the gas in favor of her winning.

Once Anna has Bf8 and Qd8 I think blacks most optimal move here instead of Qd8 they should go Qe6, it slows down whites momentum and prevents black from losing so much space in the other variations. But of course it’s easy for us to see all possible variations after the fact and it’s easy for us to say what’s best blah blah 🤷🏻‍♀️

QE6 at least removes all of this possible momentum and advantage for white, QE6 won’t give white such a distinct advantage, and black has a much greater opportunity of winning this game in this position.
