I beat the 2000 bot with an opening I haven't studied with some inaccuracies, feeling my way through multiple positions where only 1 move worked, setting up a powerful checkmate threat while they stole my rook, then I forked their queen and their necessary knight with a defended bishop, then they threw every possible piece into the grinding gears, but nothing stops this train. Review estimate 2350. I'm 1200 but high in puzzles.

Has something happened in the world of chess or have I never seen how it really is? Grew up in the Cold War era and chess was very much also politics. The power struggle between the Soviet Union and the United States was reflected in all the chess matches I had the opportunity to follow. Of course only via the press in my home country. The Internet wasn't born after all. I am only a novice regarding the sport of chess. But still, I can see the divide within the chess community. Broadly speaking, it seems that there is, on the one hand, a great winning mentality, regardless of opposition. "You take no prisoners.", regardless of who you face, e.g. what age the opponent is. - No mercy. On the other hand, there seems to be a so humility stands for its opponent. If you lose, you don't show bad sportsmanship, instead chess culture seems to encourage you to reflect together with your opponent on the match you just played. There seems to be a really nice camaraderie in the chess world. I also realize that at the highest level it is different to a certain extent. There is a certain diva status and there still seems to be extreme prestige and a big mental game in terms of things that we see in all other sports. mental games, disagreements, wars about everything possible. It still feels like chess has brought us closer, rather than further away.
